My first thought is, why is MTL giving up stuff with Weber? Weber is better than Letang.

Malkin is not worth the 1st overall pick AND the 19th overall pick in last years draft. they are the future of the rangers

Letang is better offensively than Weber but Weber is better defensively. Webers contract is really bad so it kinda makes sense why MTL would give stuff in return.

Rangers don’t trade either of those players for malkin. He doesn’t fit their timeline

Have you even been following MTL this year?
Letang >>> Weber

Pens never make this deal. Habs are stuck with Weber

Pens should never ever do that but if they would do it is the perspective I was looking it from on that earlier post

I doubt Seattle is going to take him because hes contract would really mess with their future.

While I agree NYR would never make this trade, this comment is the furthest thing from the truth

9.5 million dollar players that haven’t been playing well don’t get a kings ransom. Maybe if there’s retention he could get something. He spent about half this season by being flat out horrible.

Lafreniere alone is far more valuable than Malkin

Started the season awful and still had 24 points in 29 games LOL. Just shows how good of a player he really is. Not to mention his 110+ point pace last season. If pens wanted to trade malkin, they would retain, and get an absolute haul for him.

I want to know what you thought was funny about your first sentence, and why you thought the all caps, “LOL,” was necessary. It’s a thoroughly unfunny sentence. There’s nothing that’s subtly humorous. It’s just a bland sentence when it comes to humor.

Anyhow, who would want malkin? A contending team, right? Which contending teams have space for malkin under a flat cap? Not many. Which teams want to risk their precious cap space gambling on malkin? Even fewer. Which of those teams want to give up a ton for him? None.

Omg quit trolling. You’re clearly new here so I’ll go easy on you. Malkin is still an elite player despite the rough start. You’re right his cap hit would make if difficult for some teams to acquire him, but if pens retained 50% which they absolutely could, almost every team would be coming in with an offer if they’re a contender. He would make any team significantly better. Pens aren’t likely to trade him. He will retire a penguin, but i would be open to trading him just because of the return he could bring in retained

So he’ll be 35 next season. You don’t think teams will have any concerns about that? Is this where I’m supposed to throw in a random “LOL?”

Crosby gets a haul. Malkin has showed signs of decline. If the cap wasn’t flat, you may be right. But it is.

The “LOL” I threw in was laughing at how ridiculous your initial comment was. Malkin brings in a haul. Bottom line. On a “down year” he still had 24 in 29 despite a brutal start. If you even followed the pens you would know that the talent is still there. He can still skate/ shoot/ stick handle. It was a mental rut to start the season.

Considering it was a stretch of about 15 bad games I’ll take the over/under that it was a mental rut. Franchise players like malkin can still perform well into the mid 30s.

Imagine not being a Pens fan and not knowing the true value of Malkin’s leadership, scoring ability, and personality. LOL

And I do miss Jim as well.
