Not a good idea to acquire Cernak AND to play him with Dahlin... Do you remember that dirty elbow? Hockey players are not good at forgiving and forgetting

Cernak is getting protected over McDonagh for sure. Like it's practically guaranteed. Seattle won't touch McDonagh's deal so they protect Cernak and are fine.

Bjork is one of the 7 forwards being protected, he was the main return in the Taylor Hall trade and he is producing. Why in the hell would they give him away? They would sooner pay Seattle in draft picks to take Colin Miller or Lawrence Pilut to ensure players they care about keeping aren’t going anywhere. Hell, I would send them Lawrence Pilut as an incentive to take Colin Miller.

If theyre giving up Risto for a 2nd, especially in 2021, Id rather just expose him to Seattle so they dont lose anyone else

Interesting Tampa idea

I’m assuming that means we’d protect him, Dahlin & Jokiharju on defense then....
And that’s why you’re shipping out Risto- but you’ve gotta get a better return for him imo

I'm not sure he does at least not before his contract is up. I truly think last offseason Buffalo did enough to prove that he is the most important person to their franchise. The problems this season is just as much Eichel's fault as anyone else on the team.

I thought mittens was playing well as the 2C. Why not continue to let him grow? Since firing Krueger I thought the Sabres were playing a bit better than 500 hockey. Out of curiosity what has changed, better system, players playing more confidently?
Is Dahlin playing better? Just curious.

All of the above. Also they are playing their young talent and/or giving them bigger roles. Cozens has come back from injury and been great.
