Just as a reference for future trades the Rangers really don't need any defensemen that are going to cost more than a 4th round pick if anything. They are gonna have to many prospects looking for roster spots next season so if anything they will end up trading away defensemen

1 year X 6M buyout is worth a first-rounder, two years means compensate accordingly.

well this roster is just a random assortment of moves with little to no thought behind them

It seems like its the parrot effect with non avs fans posting avs rosters that they are just getting rid of EJ like hes a burden on the team. If hes healthy hes a very important piece on the avs blue line, if hes not then hes on LTIR and the Avs move on.

Avs are not trading a 1st rounder for someone to buyout EJ, if someone followed the avs even for a minute over the past few seasons know that is the last type of move they would do

That was because Marleau had a 35+ contract EJs buyout would be 2 million cap hit for 4 years.

Still too long to retain for just a first, maybe another team at the beginning of their rebuild. Too many contracts within the next few years.

Detroit passes. I'm sorry but no one is giving up a 2nd for Jost he's a bottom 6 forward. But Detroit might take Werner for a 5th.
