Description
Not sure how available these players are, but thought I'd ask. All have 1-year on their current deals. All signed 5-6 year deals after their ELCs that brought them straight to UFA. Jones has limited NTC, others do not.

            Too much

We should go for cheaper options or go after them in free agency

Parayko: I'm 99% sure that he'll be re signed this summer. If not, it'd be more than you're willing to part with.

Jones: Again, Columbus will do everything they possibly can to re sign him. If they don't, he probably doesn't get moved until closer to the deadline. I feel like EK67 was traded with only one year left on his deal. It wouldn't be quite that haul, but it should be massive, and more than you're willing to part with.

Hampus: As a Ducks fan, I'm hoping they extend him this summer. If not, Bob Murray would be looking for a haul. Considering the fact that Hampus >>>> Manson, and the ask for him was a 1st+Top prospect, expect an even bigger ask.

Connor Murphy: I feel like Seabs will get an exemption as he's not playing, so there's really no worries about protecting him. No idea what his ultimate value would be, but I'm assuming Hawks fans would want a lot.

Agreed. Realistically, you're at least another year away from being competitive, which isn't a bad thing, since you'll be able to ease guys like Foote and Detective Alex Holtz into the lineup. No point blowing your wad quite yet.

Seabrook is LTIR so we don’t have to protect him. The asking price for Murphy is probably the NYI first round pick and a prospect. We intend to lock him up.

STL has more of an expansion problem than the others.
They have been trying to move Dunn for a year (or so its been reported in media). And no luck.
The idea here is that they would move Parayko and re-sign Dunn.
Also, STL has Kyrou, Thomas, Barbashev, Sanford and Dunn as RFAs. That is probably $14-16m right there. So cap is tight.

I am out of the predict-what-Jarmo does game.
I think anything and all things on the table.
But do think this is least likely.

I get that Hampus > Manson...but there are other factors (who is more easily signed, who is more easily traded).
The ask for Manson was not met, so maybe he is harder to trade, easier to sign.
I'd think two prospects, 1st, 3rd would satisfy the demand, no?

Connor Murphy: I feel like Seabs will get an exemption as he's not playing, so there's really no worries about protecting him. No idea what his ultimate value would be, but I'm assuming Hawks fans would want a lot.

I think they still move - or explore moving - one of Murphy, de Haan and Zardorov pre-expansion draft.
Even is Seabrook gets exempt, one of these guys gets left unprotected.
I just don't know what the trade comp for Murphy would be.
Maybe Justin Faulk deal in 2019?

            Thanks Lenny for the feedback

Seabrook is LTIR so we don’t have to protect him. The asking price for Murphy is probably the NYI first round pick and a prospect. We intend to lock him up.

Got it. 2021 NYI first and brother Boqvist?

Probably want an actual prospect rather than a 22 year old who hasnt done anything at the NHL level yet, we already have Nylander

Sure, but my understanding is that they can leave Faulk unprotected. That seems like a pretty simple way to go about things. I think you keep Parayko over worrying about any of those RFA's. You move him, and suddenly you've got a huge hole on the back end that you'll spend the next 5 years trying to fill.

I am out of the predict-what-Jarmo does game.
I think anything and all things on the table.
But do think this is least likely.

Agreed. They're not going to let him leave for nothing, but I'd assume they try a quick retool.

I get that Hampus > Manson...but there are other factors (who is more easily signed, who is more easily traded).
The ask for Manson was not met, so maybe he is harder to trade, easier to sign.
I'd think two prospects, 1st, 3rd would satisfy the demand, no?

I don't think Bahl and Boqvist are strong enough prospects though. Neither really come in and have more impact than the umpteen young LD's that the Ducks currently have, or the boatload of young LW's that fill out those mid-6 roles. If someone is adamant about getting Hampus, and doesn't offer up a higher end prospect, I don't seem Bob Murray moving him. With Manson, I don't think it was so much the ask, as the fact that the teams that were interested at the time (Ie. Carolina) would have had to turn around and expose him to Seattle, which would be a large price to pay, after already paying a large price. Honestly, I'd say there's a 90% chance Hampus is re-signed.

I think they still move - or explore moving - one of Murphy, de Haan and Zardorov pre-expansion draft.

Honestly, if I'm Chicago, I'd strongly consider going 8-1 for protection. At the end of the day, they're going to lose a decent player.

            Cheers man!

Parayko got promoted to Assistant Captain for a reason, he is the Petro replacement. Been injured this year, but there is almost 0 chance he doesn't get extended. Faulk would more than likely be the one moved out of Parayko, Krug, and Faulk.

You also have to consider New Jersey is going to take one of the really good D prospects in this upcoming draft. They should just stand pat next year and try to add in free agency.

The Blues don't need more centers. I think more than anything they'd like a young RD to groom, and that's with Parayko there.

At this point in time, I'd much rather keep Faulk and Dunn, and move Krug.

Yeah, that's still just completely untrue. And any "reports" about it anything of the sort were unsubstantiated speculation based on a one game benching (that has happened a million times with under-performing NHL players) that these "reporters" immediately backed away from the second Dunn returned with more responsibility.

I don’t think they’re going to try very hard to move any of those guys. Unless Zadorov’s contract ask is ridiculous, he and Murphy will be the ones protected. De Haan is a nice player and all, but the Hawks have Keith and Zadorov on the left side and need to clear some room for young guys to get in the lineup. They won’t go 8-1 protection because they risk losing one of Borgstrom/Hagel/Nylander/Gaudette and I think they’d rather hold on to those guys if possible (though one probably needs exposed anyway). Honestly, de Haan being taken by Seattle is probably ideal for the Hawks.

Blues could leave Krug or Faulk exposed and Seattle likely won't take them due to longevity of the contracts.

No. I’m talking about the former first overall pick thats been solid, but not good. It’s a gamble for the blues. If they get the 50 point guy that hischier has been, they got robbed, if he develops they might be okay.

The Devils are not trading their 1C, 21-year old captain for anything, let alone a rental d-man.

That’s fine. They probably shouldn’t. Issue is, without giving up something good you probably aren’t going to get one of these premier assets. Truthfully, i can’t see why the devils would be buyers in the off season. Tank tank tank.

Let’s not go making it out like hischier has been really good though.

            Hischier's season:
            1. Guys falls on him, breaks his leg.
            2. Returns, gets COVID.
            3. Returns, takes deflection to face, breaks orbital bone.

It is has not been a good year, but no one is worried going-forward.
They just put the "C" on his shoulder for a reason.

.63 points per game. He’s a solid all around player, but cmon. First overall pick, you want more. If you’re honest with yourself, how many guys in his draft class would you have preferred they take in retrospect?
