Skinner has a NMC so unless he waives, he has to be protected.

If Risto isn't protected, he will be the pick over Miller.

Thought I had grabbed Skins. Just swap him for Asplund. And Seattle has invested in heavily in analytics so unless the GM ignores all of them, or he has a deal in place to immediately trade him. No they won't chose Risto. And if they do, they've done you a favor. And as for long term deals Dahlin and Joki are coming off rough years. I set the prices as the lowest you'd see a long term deal.

If philly cant get a good d man from free agency then Ristolainen isn't a bad option with Fletcher trying to sell Patrick

McCabe probably isn’t getting protected seeing as he is a free agent. Buffalo has no incentive to sign him before the expansion draft either.

They would definitely take Thompson if you expose him... Seattle will have stacked D but thin at forward, so Miller would likely not get picked. Don't sign McCabe until after expansion then you can protect Tage

See I thought about this. The idea is signing him after the expansion draft. However Seattle can still take him in the expansion draft which I found interesting. If they were smart they would take him because he's one of the better defensive defenseman in the league. So that's why I protected him. If they don't protect McCabe, I'd go Dahlin,Joki,Borgen

See above comment. I'm with you there. I'm signing McCabe after expansion. I think you could very well risk it and protect thompson and leave McCabe exposed

I doubt Seattle would take McCabe with no guarantee he would sign with them. They should not waste a potential asset on nothing. I think the Sabres will have to incentivize Seattle taking a player of their choosing, particularly if we do not want to lose a forward. I would be fine with including any of the extra draft picks we’ve acquired this year, or Lawrence Pilut’s rights if that seals the deal. He’s not coming back here anyway, but if Seattle were to give him an opportunity he just might come back for them.

No because McCabe would instantly be taken. He is one of the best shut-down guys in the league

I would like for them to bring him back. If he's your 3LD then you're in a great spot. But they would have to buy him out of his KHL contract which I doubt will happen. But yeah I'm with you, I hope you're right and they don't take him. I'd like to keep draft capital if possible

UFA's are available for selection. They are not immune. So even if I don't sign him until after, Seattle can take him. I'm gonna protect Asplund over Tage. It's either McCabe gets protected or Borgen. Or you can do 8 skaters but that means you only protect, Sam, Jack, Jeff and VO

No they aren't.... You cannot select someone with no contract. They would have to negotiate a contract before they could take him. Seeing as McCabe's family lives in Buffalo, I have a strong feeling he will have already talked with Adams about an extension and that the contract will be finalized AFTER the expansion so that we don't need to protect him

Technically he’s right. Pending UFA‘s can and have been selected in the expansion draft in the past. The rules state a certain number of the exposed players for each team need to have a contract for next season, or be RFAs Who have received a qualifying offer. Seattle is also required to select a certain number of players who already have a contract in place for next season. This does not stop them from selecting McCabe if they want to, but I doubt they would select a player they cannot guarantee would sign with them.
