Description

I've never really tried doing a Penguins build before so this could be completely stupid, but Sid and Geno deserve one more cup.

I'm sure there will be lots of hate for the Laine trade but he isn't working in Columbus and neither is Domi. So I thought I would give it a shot, tell me how to fix it.
As far as the Laine contract I don't believe it walks him to UFA but it gives him some prove it time to see if he can become a 10 million AAV player next to Sid. Plus it gives Pens time for some big contracts to come of the books.

Pettersson is my best guess to be taken by the Kraken but if I'm wrong straighten me out.

I would say that Guentzel is better than Laine or at minimum fits better with the Penguins.

McCann and Kapanen both have more points than Domi this year in less games due to injury and are both known for their all around game not point production. They are both younger than Domi and on cheaper contracts with all three signed for one more year. At the end of the deals Domi is a UFA while McCann and Kapanen are both RFA.

I don’t think the one good season Domi has had makes him worth taking anywhere near this kind of risk.

I would much rather see CBJ fire torts and try to get both Laine and Domi back on track.

If anything, I think they’d do this for the cost-certainty.

Though, you wouldn’t want to sign Laine to that contract. It would take him to UFA. Sign him to a 1-year deal. You get one more crack at RFA after that.
