Trade LITERALLY Everybody Rebuild Exercise

Created by: ChrisPy97

Description
So I wanted...FOR FUN...To take a middle-to-failing team whose youth movement isn't as robust as say, LA or NJ, and who still has plenty of vets/bad contracts, and then trade ALMOST everybody in a almost literal scorched-earth rebuild. This includes moving on from slightly older younger players.

I KNOW I said LITERALLY everybody, but I want to keep everyone who's 23 and under, unless they have been given ample time and are not working. Also, I am trying to consider where other teams are in their development so I can't just cheat and poach young players from NJ or OTT unless they are expendable.

I know this criteria is both murky and subjective...but this is just for fun. Some old guys with bad contracts might come back, but for the purpose of eating money for draft picks and they likely won't play much.

Phew...let's give it a go

Certainly a fun exercise, but the NMC's that EK and Vlasic have, plus the NTC's of Couture (3 team), Kane (3 team), Hertl (3 team), Burnsie (3 team), and Jones (3 team) are going to make any sort of scorched earth scenario nearly impossible.

Sharks are in a super weird position where they pretty much have to make smart, low cost additions, as opposed to any sort of impossible sell off.

Evander Kane is an interesting case. I can see an argument for his contract being positive, neutral, or negative value. He’s definitely not worth this though. Karlsson however is just one of the highest negative value players in the league. There’s no way anything of value would come back. Multiple firsts would have to go with his deal.

Yeah, I dig the concept here and what you’re going for. I just don’t think CBJ make this trade for Couture. Trading away those pieces may end up making more problems for CBJ than he alone would fix.

Plus, that contract is...ugh.

Sharks are getting absolutely violated in the Hertl, Meier and Labanc trades.

Opposite is true for the Couture, Jones and Vlasic ones.

Oh I know I basically had to completely disregard those. Either SJ's bad contracts are all going to be super nice and agree to move, and then get lucky enough to be moved with those bad contracts, or the Sharks will have a team full of washed up 35+ players in 5 years and no ability to re-sign young talent. Big ol YEESH

Yeah...it's a tough spot. I'd say let the shark eat Doug Wilson, but I feel like anyone who replaced him would be given an absolutely impossible task.

This is a perfectly fair question. I did this over two days so some of the trades might not have comparable value to each other - my bad.
