Ideal Offseason

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 21, 2021

Description
Seattle Expansion Protection List:
FW (7): Gallagher, KK, Anderson, Toffoli, Drouin, Danault
D (3): all with NTC so Chiarot, Edmundson and Petry
G (1): Allen

I would throw a draft pick for Seattle to pick Weber. Weber can still be serviceable despite his age and could make a good captain in Seattle for a new team.

As for the Price trade, it makes sense for both teams: Colorado gets a number 1 goalie that has been on a struggling team for a few years and they get rid of Johnson who lost his spot in the lineup with youngsters Byram, Girard, Makar, Toews and potentially Timmins.

By offloading Weber and Price, MTL can focus on building with the core and prospects without worrying of salary constraints for the next few years.

Meanwhile, Poehling continues to develop as a full-line center in the AHL with the emergence of our prospects Ylonen, Teadale, Brook, HP and Mysak playing more significant roles.

Why would Vancouver give away a player they like (Motte ) for a player with a bad salary (Byron) that they could have had a couple of times for free when he was on waivers?

I am so not moving Norlinder. My contacts tell me he will eventually be a top 4 D in the NHL.

All teams decline and it’s gonna cost a fortune to move price

I don't protect Chiarot, is weber is exposed and they have to protect another D I protect a young D in Fluery way before Chiarot.
AVS say no to both trade and Price would have to allow the trade to happen anyways.
VAN might say yes but would probably have to give a 2nd with Byron.

NTC are different than NMC, so I doubt they'll be protecting both chiarot & edmundson...

I don't think that the habs will part ways with Carey. Even tough his contract is horrible, the habs still need the presence of Carey Price in order to win games in the playoffs. Just look at how he played at the bubble, where he carried the habs for 10 straight games. Jake Allen is an excellent 2nd goaltender, but as we have seen in the past in St Louis, he struggles to find consistency when he gets a high volume of games.
