Where does Foligno Fit in Full Roster

Description
Assuming we have everyone back for playoffs, where does Foligno fit?

I think playing him on the 2nd line with Tavares and Hyman is an option when Galchenyuk isnt keeping up, but as long as chucky is playing well I think Foligno fits in nicely with Kerfoot and Spezza/Mikhyev on the 3rd line.

The only thing I feel bad about is that Jumbo seems to be the odd man out now if Nash comes back for the playoffs..

I'd swap him for Galchenyuk. Galchenyuk would be good on the 3rd line.

no, 3rd line is where he fits best. Honestly 3c or 3LW is where he should be. It allows Hyman to go back to top 6 and balance everything out

Foligno-Kerfoot-Mikheyev is what I feel is the best option

or if u decide to supplement Mikheyev into the top 6 u could run Foligno-Kerfoot-Hyman

no, Keefe put Chucky on the third line and during that game Edmonton scored 3 goals and it wasnt until Keefe put him back with Tavares and Nylander that allowed for each to score allowing for the win tie than the OT win. Top 6 is where he is best suited to play.

Lots of options up front so I won't really comment but Hutton is not better than Dermott and from what I saw last night, I don't think he's better than Sandin either, that's just "replacement sydrome" thinking the new guy coming in is going to be better without watching him play or looking at his analytics.

IMO the best option the Leafs can deploy when healthy is:
Hyman Matthews Marner
Galy Tavares Nylander
Foligno Nash Mikheyev
Thornton Kerfoot Spezza

Nice let's base all decisions off a 1 game sample size.

Foligno will put up zero points on the third line and his defensive skills go to waste.

I was focused on the forwards here.. Hutton is just who the program automatically put in..

I saw another comment where they had Nash coming back and played a 3rd line of Foligno/Nash/Mik or Foligno/Nash/Kerfoot.. I think that could be a top end shut down line that could match up against any line in the league during playoffs..

Maybe even get Foligno/Nash/Hyman going in key defensive situations..

So you would like to play our 3rd line 25min a night? Then play the top 2 lines for 15min each? Matthews line matches up against top lines. It will stay that way.

I knew as soon as we signed foligno they would try him on the top line. It’s the only way to make the trade look good. We need depth scoring in the playoffs and the zip line can provide that. Even if you modify it to include Nash over Engvall.

No, you just give the 3rd line defensive starts against the other teams top lines. Especially when we are up in the game already.

For example Matthews starts about 12% of his shifts in the defensive zone. If we assume that about half of those are against the other teams top line that means if we played the 3rd line I mentioned in those situations Matthews would only see a drop of about 1 min of icetime for Matthews (and marner for that matter) and a gain of 1 min for the 3rd line.

It isnt specifically that they need to match up the whole time, but i would much rather have Foligno/Nash ect. out their playing their asses off blocking shots ect instead of Matthews/Marner, then when we get the puck they change to let the stars play the offence.
