The rangers have stated they will be buying out tony.

I think this might be a case of too many D, but not enough good ones.

Tony D gets bought out after they expose him in the expansion draft , the mutual termination ship has sailed.

Why would the Jets make that deal? Neither Ranger player is needed or wanted by Winnipeg.

You are correct as to the buyout, sorry I forgot. So minus approx 375k from cap. As for the Jets, their defense is not good, without Helle they are not good. Sure they can score but defense is not a strong suit. Hajek is capable and Howden has improved tremendously on defense and would provide them with much needed bottom 6 depth. I am not sure how highly touted Henri is but it doesn't seem like he is anything special as of yet. With the signing of DuBois and with Schilefe and with Cole Perfetti ready to make the NHL next year along with Adam Lowry they have all 4 center spots tied up for the foreseeable future. But hey I am no expert, who knows. I doubt it happens but wouldnt it be fun.

I mean Fox is top 2 right now in Norris talk, Lindgren his partner is a beast this season. Trouba has his good and bad days, Miller is young and going to be great. Reunanen is almost a PPG in AHL and has an outstanding international track record. Also, not include don this roster is Nils Lindquist, who absolutely dominated the SHL breaking records. So who is to say whether its the story of too many or not enough, either way Hajek is redundant at the very least albeit capable and thus should be traded for future assets. Maybe WPG could use him, who's to say.

Other than our current 3rd pair there pretty good. And with the prospects coming we’re not worried about quality either

Well adding a bottom pairing (at best) LD from a team with a worse defense than Winnipeg doesn't help. Hajek would be behind Morrissey, Heinola, Samberg and Stanley just on the left side so he'll likely rarely if ever play and Howden is a replacement level player that would probably never see the ice in Winnipeg. So it's a pointless trade for Winnipeg. Fun to talk about, just not ever going to happen.

Ya, so fox is good. Lindgren has been good as his partner, miller has been solid. Then we’re talking about the SHL.

It’s foolish to dismiss the SHL like that considering the defenseman to come out of there, but to each their own I guess.

Depending on what Buch is signed for...and whatever the plan is with Zibs and Strome able to go UFA next year, the 800K + cap hit associated with an ADA buyout might be enough to really complicate a bunch of extensions in 2022...particularly Fox. Best move (albeit potentially expensive) might be to just ride out the 4.8M salary next year....my guess is that ADA might pretty quickly start thinking about mutual termination again...he needs to play next year somewhere to get his career back on track- lots of money for him to make in the years ahead if he can do that.

It’s foolish to infer that a d man is a good NHLer before they are. It’s hard to project. I’m not saying he’s going to be bad or anything, but no, the rangers don’t have too many D
