Because Hellybuck is better than him. He beat him out to the Vein last year after losing Byfuglien, Trouba and Myers from his defensive core. Tampa is also the best team in the league, they have the best offence and their defence is very good between hetman, sergachev, mcdonaugh, rutta, cernak and now Savard. Not to say Vasi isn't great, but he is in much more of an ideal situation.

Who would u put there instead of price? Sure his numbers havent been great, but look at his playoff performance last year. Mcavoy is really good, but its top 5 at each position, I don't think hes better than any of those right D's.

He can play both.

Crosby is so underrated. People got so used to him that they don't appreciate how good he really is. Maybe he doesn't score 110 its anymore, but he puts up 90-100 pt paces and is one of the top defensive centres in the game, great face-off man etc. I'd take him over McDavid going into a cup run today

Obviously you haven't been watching Tampa recently. If it weren't for Vasy they would've lost 10 in a row. Hedman & Savard have been poor defensively (now that I think about it Hedman has been terrible defensively recently). Rutta's injured. Mcdonagh, Cernak, and Sergachev haven't been terrible, but they haven't been good either

Gibson is in the same boat as price. Has had bad teams in front of him for the last few years, in turn, making his stats bad. I agree that he is a top goalie tho

But he plays primarily center. Put him between Matthews and MacKinnon and add Stamkos to the LW list. Also Kucherov is top 5 RW

Again, I didn't say that he isn't good, I have him in second. But Hellybuck beat him out to the Vezina on a team that lost 3 of their top 4 defensman and he continues to be great. Yes, he gets goal support, so does Vasi, but their defensive cores are not to compare.

I think a lot of fans base their opinions of Carey on his numbers without taking into account his teams lack of defense. We often end up top 5 in the league for shots against, high danger shots against and odd man rushes against and one of the worst PK's in the league and yet we still end up middle of the pack in the standings by the end of the year. Hard to put up decent numbers with those kinds of team stats, put him in Tampa or Colorado or even Edmonton and you will see the Carey of old rise to the top.

Ok, but Vezina hasn't been given to same goalie 2 years in a row for 13 years. Vasilevskiy won it in 2019. Don't get me wrong I think Hellebuyck and Vasilevskiy are the two best goalies by far and that Hellebuyck isn't that far behind, but I think Vasilevskiy has been better throughout their careers and this season

It is not that people are used to him putting up 110+ points, it is that he isn't putting up those kinds of points anymore. He is starting to decline (albeit his decline will be much slower than others), he is capable of putting up 90-100 points but he is not going to carry a team on his own anymore either, not like McDavid or MacKinnon can.

I think there are quite a few guys to consider over Nurse, Chychrun, and Letang on defense. Nurse + Chychrun are having nice seasons, but that doesn't make them top 5 in the league at their position.
