You don't take into account bonus overages from this season. And Campbell is already signed for less than that so why would the Hawks offer him more next year?

$3m is too much for the Blackhawks to spend on Campbell. He's worth it in the NHL but the Hawks shouldn't spend that on him. If they were going to spend more on a defenseman, they'd be better off trying to resign Oduya. Oduya's a few years younger than Campbell and that shut down combo of Hammer and Oduya would be great to have back. If Campbell's coming back again, it'll be on a deal very similar to his deal this season - $1.5m with an easy to attain bonus of $750k for games played. If they resign Panik, it should be for 2 years. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt DeBrincat cracks the NHL lineup for an entire season next season. He'll likely be back and forth a little between Rockford and Chicago and be full time in the NHL in 2018-19.

Campbell isn't getting anything close to 3 per.... I could see maybe 1.5 tops, but if he's going to be back it will likely be for 1 per.

Over the cap + bonus overages not accounted for. Campbell won't be resigned, especially for that much. He's struggling this year.
