Not sure this qualifies as a hot take. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Draisaitl gone if they don’t sustain any winning.

I wouldn’t trade him for Heiskanen 1 for 1. This package would get McDavid and then some. It’s three first round picks plus Heiskanen, who lead us to the finals and is one if the best all around d-man, and Hintz who’s 11th in the league in PPG and is playing injured.

Him and McDavid are far from the problem. They’re one of the most important reasons the Oilers win.

Well yes, that is true. But, what happens when the 1st guy in the duo becomes unhappy? I don’t care how crucial they are, if they want to win, and Edmonton can’t figure it out I doubt either one of them will have an issue with asking for a trade. Leon has a great contract, Edmonton would get a kings ransom for him. Might be more beneficial to explore a Leon trade if the winning doesn’t come in the next 2-3 years. You’re likely getting 2-3 blue chip pieces, that’ll likely be more helpful overall than one draisaitl.

If it comes to that point, they should have a front office change. You can’t have two of the best players in the league and still can’t get far in the playoffs.

heiskanen is great and this is probably an overpay but every GM in the league would trade him 1 for 1 with mcdavid

Dallas doesn't have enough assets in their entire org to get McDavid

DAL isn’t doing that, though I would love to what Draisitl would produce an entire season away from McDavid.

This package contains an elite forward (11th in the NHL in PPG), one of the best two way d-man in the league and basically three first round picks. Even if this isn’t enough we have an elite young goalie in Oettinger and 1/2 of the Calder winner (with Kaprizov) in Jason Robertson. Your take that their entire organization couldn’t get McDavid is false.

They are reason 1 & 2 and there’s no 3

There is literally no combination of assets in the Dallas org that is a fair return for McDavid. Dallas isn't a team that has pieces that make sense. Think Colorado with MacKinnon + Makar

We have a lot of pieces that make enough sense if combined. Even if it’s McDavid I wouldn’t do a trade for him, it would be too much to give up.

Ok name the pieces you think is fair for McDavid to Dallas, I'll make a thread asking who wins the trade.
