Drouin isnt getting trade just for the sake of it... He's still an important player with his skillset. Dont listen to those fans who just love criticizing him cause he cant dangle through an entire team just like he did in junior. If you want a top 6 winger, itll cost you a first pick at least.

I agree. While I strongly agree that he can be agonizingly inconsistent (and I wish he would shoot more), he is still a top 6 playmaker. He is, in reality, a solid second line player: he does not play enough defense for the third and fourth, and he's usually not strong enough offensively for the first line (though he will look like the world's best player in spurts). The problem is (at least to me), I am not sure if he is worth his contract (i.e. he hasn't played or produced like a $5.5 million dollar player).

I will never be a revisionist of history: the Habs made the trade with Tampa because the Canadiens needed offense and it was assumed at the time that Markov was probably going to sign an extention. If the Canadiens do not make the playoffs, I assume big changes will happen to their front office and potentially behind the bench. If that happens, the new management will not be married to Drouin.
