Really compelling 1st line with someone to significantly reduce the burden of playmaking on Eichel especially with such a pure shooter on RW

I reckon they'd move him ultimately yeah

    Possibly out of awkward desperation

Just asking, but why are you obsessed with moving Risto?
He's been very good this season

LOL. He has not been very good this season. He has been awful this season, as usual.

Even if we move past that. He clearly is not resigning here, so either move him now, or lose him for nothing next year.

You keep making this trade over and over despite being told it makes little sense for the Habs. We are not giving up 2 good players for a 2nd plain and simple. If you want Allen that bad your going to have to make losing 2 players worth it otherwise we will just let Allen go to Seattle. Would you trade Risto for a second then lose Thompson for free? No cause it makes no sense. If we trade Allen then we also lose one of Chiarot, Edmundson, Evans or Fleury for nothing. Hence 2 good players and only getting a 2nd back.

He was good for the first week of the season when he was paired with McCabe. Been horrible since.

Yes. I would trade risto for a 2nd and then lose thompson to expansion.

Of course neither of those are a backup goalie

It makes plenty of sense for Montreal to obtain an asset for someone you'd lose for free. That asset plus the cap space you will get will have you lose a completely replaceable player to seattle

I mean if they traded Allen and lost chariot they'd have a 2nd round pick and 6.3 million in cap space and have lost a decent defensemen and a back up goalie. The horror

Last game he was on the ice for 25 shots against. he’s awful. And he obviously doesn’t want to be here it was time to move on 3 years ago from him.

Just stick to your day job cause this doesn't seem to be your forte. You keep saying Allen is a backup but he is a 1B starter and the whole reason you keep trying to pass a 2nd for him is because your goaltending SUCKS and you are trying to cheap out and convince Montreal fans that a 2nd is fair value when you me and every other fan on this site knows that you are just flat out wrong! Go try to pay Arizona a 2nd for Raanta or Kuemper see what they say!

he also has a 60.5% dzone start this year, the highest in his career, and played 24 minutes.

That's cause they don't like Risto or see his value. He is great as a 2nd pair D man used beside a good positional D man. The problem is the coaches always try to get him to either play top pair or change his playing style. It's much like what the coaches do here with Drouin, he is an offensive supporting player but they want him to be either the play driver or play a better defensive game.

Raanta is a UFA. I could easily sign him as a UFA, but he would cost more in dollars.

Then go sign him and stop with the ridiculous 2nd for Allen offers! The point is you have tried like a hundred times and been shot down a hundred times. Time to move on

Ristolainen fails the eye test and the numbers test.

he constantly takes himself out of plays to make unnecessary hits (and when the chips are down and a sabres player gets run, where is he?(. he gets lost in front of his own net, his zone exits are horrible whether pressured or not. watch a sabres game and count how many failed zone exits are his fault or how many times a goal is scored at the goal mouth with him right there.

hes a fake tough guy who cant play in his own zone. his minutes have been throttled and he still sucks. weve tried him with stay at home guys, weve tried him everywhere.

yea, its not ridiculous. it is usually only shot down by you or by people who haven't thought through the expansion draft and Price's NMC.

Of course it means I win the debate cause you can't back up your response

"yea, its not ridiculous. it is usually only shot down by you or by people who haven't thought through the expansion draft and Price's NMC."

If there was a single thread where a Montreal fan actually said yes to your ridiculousness then you would have provided it instead of saying that I was assigning you homework. Which is a hilariously lame cop out LMAO!

Honestly trading Allen is probably not worth it as ensuring Seattle takes him is value in itself but depending on how the Habs play these last 12 games and playoffs could change my mind on whether id accept this. If Habs somehow miss the playoffs, everyone is gone so hes all yours! Doubt that happens though so chances are theyll keep him to give to Seattle if they want him.
