Way too much for Foote. That first could be super early. We also don't really need a young RD prospect/player

I love the 8 year contracts for the UFAs. If you need cap room, maybe Vasy could just have season ending surgery

Im a sens fan.. what do you mean we dont need a young RHD lol. I hate Zaitsev. Zub is our only decent RHD. JBD is promiscing. Thomson not so much.

In this scenario I offersheet Foote for 7 x 3.5M

Realistially we can't get rid of Zaitsev. Zub and JBD will be playing. I dont see a fit unless we move out Zaitsev.
If it was a 2nd rounder i would do it but we cant give up a 2022 first for this guy

why on earth would you offer sheet foote for 7x3.5 lol? if tampa doesn’t protect him he could probably be had for their 2022 2nd back, I wouldn’t give up more than that. He’s certainly not worth a 1st that could realistically be top 10 in a very deep draft, nor that contract (yet)

someone a bit salty over LTIR? .. even though Carolina did the same thing using LTIR last season at the deadline? Every team does it. Tampa took a bigger risk in putting their best player on it for the season. Can't just look at them for it.

I agree that the league needs to change the rule, but for now it's legal. No reason to salty over it.

No salt, but the Bolts having a total salary cap hit of almost $100M this season seems a bit of a stretch. Either way, this post is about 2021-2022 and the Bolts are screwed.

For what it’s worth, a player who played 3/4 of the season and broke his leg in season going on LTIR isn’t exactly a perfect example of pointing to as a comparable for TB this year.

Either way, I hope it all works out. As a Canes fan, I just hope they get all their players back so there aren’t excuses when they get eliminated.

Again, I agree with you that the NHL needs to rework their LTIR rule. I don't think it's fair that teams can spend more money but still be cap compliant come playoffs. But Carolina has done it too. But you still threw shade at it.

My personal rule would be either of a player misses 50% of the regular season being on LTIR, that player isn't eligible for playoffs. It's kinda dumb how there's not a rule for that but players that want to be eligible for AHL playoffs have to be in the AHL on deadline day.

Nope - I’d be 1000% cool with any team using the LTIR exactly the same why the Canes did last year - the way it’s supposed to be used. Canes would have been without Dougie and Pesce for the playoffs if they’d happened at the scheduled time. Canes are not the team you should be saying ‘has done it too’. $82.5M total cap hit last year, and cap floor team for a long time before that.

They've used LTIR. Just like any team does. How they use it shouldn't be up for discussion. You can't have it both ways - where you either go a little over or a lot over. It's not a fair league because of it. Tampa and Toronto and bigger markets abuse it. 100%. But if you're gonna be behind teams using it like Carolina did and keeping their players out till playoffs so it doesn't affect it, even though they played that season, you can't say Tampa is abusing it.

You threw shade at Tampa for the way they used it and were seeming salty about it.
