Probably wouldn't leave Toronto, but Hyman would be a very interesting fit. I would do:

    Lee-Barzal-Eberle
    Hyman-Nelson-Bailey
    Beau-Pageau-Wahlstrom

    We'd be soooooooooo deep

The isles can’t afford to sign another 30+ player long term. That’s how you end up like the sharks - no way out.

Who else gets to unrestricted free agency? Mid-late 20s is the "younger" group. It's fine. We don't have firepower in BPT to count on. Besides, Hyman is a win now piece. Good player.

Hyman will be 29 , he’s exiting his prime. There are players the isles can trade for in the 22-25 range that can be just as good as hyman through the duration of their contracts. “Win-now” does not mean load up your team with 30 year olds . A big reason the isles are in 1st place is because of the contributions from their young players

Perhaps, I’m not saying we should get him, but if we could get Hyman, in his current form for a year or two, we’d be deadly.

Plus signing Hyman would require Bailey and Ladd to disappear, which I don’t think will happen

If hyman maintains his level of play this season for the next 5 years (no chance) then 5 mill is fair value. I’d love to sign him on a 1 year deal but obviously that’s not happening.

So many cheap players out there that the isles can trade for that can provide similar value to hyman - terry, Matthieu joseph, etc..
