Zero chance McDonagh waives to go to Detroit.

Also, they added Seattle finally, you don't have to use another team as a dumping ground anymore.

Make it 2022 and Seattle has no issue.

    Seems some chance

Given age he might start to get marginalized in TB

In Detroit he'd be *the* LD at like 25 mins a game

    Might add years & money

    To his career

Zero chance. He's almost certainly going to retire at the end of his deal, which takes him to almost 37, so there is no "next contract". Couple that with the fact that he'd be willingly making 1/3rd less due to state taxes. At the end of the day, this is still a business and he's not going to willingly give up earnings, to play on a rebuilding team.

No need to resign Savard. He isn’t much better than Rutta. Use that extra money on a top 6 forward.

It’s roughly a 450k difference yearly as you’re taxed where you earn it and you only play half your games at home. That over five years, we’re talking 2.25M so doubtful he’d make that up in his late 30s which is your point. Plus I’d wager he’d prefer the location of Tampa over Detroit for the weather and chance at a cup.

I'm always flabbergasted why so many Tampa fans think their NTC/NMC players waive their rights to go to a poor team with cap. Even worse why these teams want a bad long term contract.

Tampa will buy out Johnson before giving that much to move him, not much of a question. They may entice Seattle to take McD and get value for one of Palat or Killorn, which then gives them the room to make things work fairly well next year.
