Like the moves except the Tampa trade. Rather keep our draft picks and use the cap space on UFA or a team that needs to sell re expansion

I think Gourde would be better than any of the 3Cs we could get anywhere else, that's why I went with him. I would've liked to sign Lowry but that's gone.

So for taking two cap dumps, our reward is a 5th.
Also, we give you a 5th.

Virtanen wouldn't be a pure cap dump, he just has low positive value. Roussel is the cap dump.

Miller

I had Miller at center before too and I don't mind that idea, but filling in the 1LW spot is tough as well. I don't think Hoglander should be in that spot regularly and saving him and Podkolzin to create a strong 3rd line would help the team a lot. Gourde is paid a lot but he's also one of the best 3Cs in the league.

This team can't afford to trade high draft picks. Hoglander is a perfect example of a player we will continue to need. Can pick up wingers via free agency who will be much cheaper. Players like Hall, and Hoffman will not get as much as they expected. There will be value there.

For a trade with Tampa, I would target someone like Joseph. He should be much cheaper $ and picks.

Tampa would have no reason to move Joseph as it wouldn't clear out any cap space for them. Maybe attached to a bigger contract.

I don't think it keeping the pick would be bad in any way, I just think getting Gourde would be great too. Gourde and Miller can switch spots in this lineup too. The entire top-9 is very interchangeable.
