I don't know why NJ would make that trade. They clearly like Foote, getting him in some NHL games at the end of a lost season, and that first is going to be pretty high, I would imagine, where they could draft someone who projects similar to Sergachev and fits their future contention timeline better

I just feel that Sergachev could be a huge piece to their defense core which is rather weak. I doubt anybody besides maybe Owen power will be better than Sergachev. Foote has better offensive upside than Raddysh but adding Raddysh seems to even out the value.

I would love Sergachev on the Devils, but I think our best asset to offer Lightning is our cap space.
We need that draft pick - if the tank continues, it could be #1 - and Nolan's shot.

When the salary shedding begins, call us.

Yea I agree I still the best trade with the devils would be to send like Johnson and Foote for Wood (50%) but I wanted to try something different

It could work if they feel they want an older D-man right now. The value makes sense though, just don't know how Devil's fans feel about the timing of it.

Depends on where the pick is. If it's top 5 then no. If it's not, then I think it makes sense for both sides

The only trade Tampa would do as posted might be the Killorn trade. Sergachev is almost untouchable, and with one of Tampa's top 2 or 3 prospects, no chance. Stephens has more value moving forward than this, as he's still very likely a regular moving ahead once he gets back from injury. While Tampa may choose to go the option of paying Seattle to take Johnson(retention elsewhere or just a buyout seems better most likely), no chance Colton is part of it.
