To get jack eichel you’re going to have to give up something that makes you say, “darn, i didn’t want to give that up.” Not just secondary pieces and picks.

I'm not gonna comment on the trade, what I will say is how David Quinn it is of you to play Blackwell with Eichel and Panarin

This is a very good trade. A fair trade would be Strome + Chytil + 1st for Eichel + 2nd

Yeah that was on purpose lol, I personally would play Kakko with Eichel and Panarin but we all know how DQ operates

Buffalo wants 4 firsts for Eichel, Chytil(1st rounder in 2017) Schneider(1st rounder in 2020) plus 2 firsts next two years fulfills that plus you add in Buch who was on pace for a 70 point season over 82 games and was a top penalty killer lol. Buffalo will get what the market offers them, can't see it taking Laf or Kakko and if it does cost that I think Gorton would walk away

First off, that report was sketchy, i don’t believe it.

This is a mistake people seem to make around here. A first round pick is a first round pick. I see all the time someone will look at a trade package and say, “this is basically five first round picks,” because they have former first rounders in there.

So lets see. I’m a bruins fan. Zach Senyshyn. Nick Ritchie. Zboril. Lazar. There you go. Four first rounders! I’ll take my eichel please!

That isn’t how it’s works. This offer is a ridiculous lowball, just like the one i put forward. Difference is, mine was a joke.

No it's not. That's why no sabre fans would agree with your statement.

It would start with last year's 1st overall pick. If he isn't going to buffalo, eichel has no shot at becoming a ranger. Period

As I said I think Laf and Kakko are untouchable in Rangers eyes. An alternate offer that I could see is something like Strome, Kravtsov, Schneider, 2021 1st and 2022 1st. Don’t think Rangers will overpay, and ultimately I think Eichel ends up in LA because LA’s prospect pool is a bit more aligned with what Buffalo will want and also Buffalo probably prefers getting him out of the Eastern Conference. It’ll be fun to see what happens this summer, no need to get emotional about it lol

Laf will be untouchable in NYR’s eyes, just as Byfield will be untouchable for LA. Buffalo will get what the market offers

If a teams top two prospects are untouchable (boy oh boy they shouldn’t be. They haven’t played well) then that team doesn’t get an elite 24 year old center with five years left on his deal. Real simple.

Where was i emotional?

So 2 guys who have a combined 50 career pts are untouchable but an elite 1C that’s 24 under contract for 5 more years has had more pts in every season he has played (minus this injury shortened season) than those 2 combined and their the untouchable ones? My guy you are the biggest homer I’ve seen on this site and that’s saying something.

Tell me the last time a top 2 draft pick was traded within 2 years of being in the league. I’m not even saying they should be, but Laf and Kakko will be untouchable

Eichel is great, that’s why I want him lol. He’s also disgruntled and it’s the worst kept secret that he’s getting dealt this offseason. When’s the last time a top 2 pick was dealt within their last 2 years in the league? Is LA offering Byfield? Buffalo will get what the market is offering

Or they won't trade him. Sorry Jack, it's my job as the Sabres GM to make the team better. You are worth more then what is being offered all things considered. If I get an offer that satisfies me and sends you somewhere you want to go, we'll. Deal you then. Thanks for stopping by. Want a beer?

Who says he is getting dealt? Who says BUF has to take market offering? What would Eichel do if he didn’t get traded sit out? BUF can play hard ball and win, he has 5 yrs remaining on his deal he isn’t sitting out 5 yrs. the Avs dealt Duchene, for the equivalent of 2 1st rd, 3 2nd rd picks a 3rd and a back up goalie. Eichel is twice the player but you do you.

I understand that it makes BUF fans' blood boil to see offers from NYR fans that don't include at least 1 of Fox, Kakko, and LaF...but this is far from a ***ty offer...if anything, it is not good value for the Rangers. This offer is technically (4) 1sts + Buch...Buch himself is worth a 1st and then some...while not flashy- his production is on an upward trajectory- he has become close to a ppg player (w/o 1st unit PP time), is good defensively, and is an effective PKer

Agreed that former 1st rounders aren't necessarily 1st rounders years out from their draft...and for that matter- guys like Kucherov, Pointe, Cirelli are not what their draft position is either...and while I don't put Buch on the same level as these guys- he wouldn't be a 3rd either.

Now assuming you are putting Chytil and Schneider into the category of journeyman players you mention....wow- you are far off. Schneider is 1 year out of his draft...tough year to measure his progress- but nothing about his play since drafted has diminished his value. And Chytil- 21 yo developing C...his play (in the NHL) suggests nothing short of top 6 F...and probably 2C...you're right- not worth a 1st- worth way north of a single 1st.

In the end the market will bear what Eichel is worth....but if this package is it- the NYR best walk away- let the other team get fleeced.
