Massive overpay for Pulock. He's a great defenseman, but not worth Perfetti and a 1st, let alone taking on Hickey's contract.

Far, far, far too much from Winnipeg. The Jets say no. It would be better to pay a lesser price for Pulock and extend him themselves rather than an overpay like this just to have the Islanders extend him for the Jets

He’s under contract through next year. The extension is the OP saying WPG signs him, that doesn’t factor into the value of the trade. We both agree it’s too much. This is bad asset and cap management.

What's the incentive for Boston to do that deal? As a Bruins fans, why should I be excited for this trade?

Neither package fits the other team. Bruins just have no reason to make such a move.

Why are the islanders trading their number 1?

Exactly. The OP is saying Winnipeg should pay the Islanders a premium because in his scenario Pulock is willing to extend with the Jets. I was just pointing out that it would be silly for Winnipeg to do that, since Pulock's extension has nothing to do with the Islanders in this scenario.

Whats the incentive for a win now islanders team to do this. Not commenting on value just on fit. Youd be better off finding a rebuilding team w a premium RHD.

So the Jets do these trades and then have to sign Pulock as a UFA, PLD and DeBrusk to new contracts and can probably only afford 1 of them. what is the plan then? flip the guys we just traded picks and prospects for to someone else for picks and prospects???

Like the idea of upgrading 1 rhd, but for that package I think you need to shoot higher or lesson package and shoot lower. I like pulock but I would be a little worried about slowing down with age, skating not his greatest attribute. I wanna see Jets shoot there shot at Seth Jones or a lesser shot at Manson possibly. Not sure if Jets will ever have a 30 minute a night guy with out developing themselves, Jets can probably bargain hunt and develop a partner to morrissey yet without moving that many assets, but we will see

Pulock is a lot better than Jones/Manson. I would say pulock is a strong skater, not in terms of speed but he can go end to end and deke out opposing D, strong on the puck etc...

I mean I wouldn't give up this package right now, but Pulock is definitely better than Jones

I just see more of a upside in Jones, pulock is limited in skating, good dman don’t get me wrong, probably next Weber type, possibly without the nasty, but some of those playoff games with werenski, Jones played well with plus skating ability that will last longer with age and little slighter frame. I’m probably biased on Jones, but think he covers more of the needs than the solid big shot pulock.

I would put Jones ahead on plus skating over pulock, pulock probably the better all around dman, Manson kind of a poor mans pulock. But all just an opinion on eye test. Pulock future Weber without nasty side. I’ve followed him since wheatkings so a fan, but still believe there’s still a limit on him getting truly elite from his skating.

Jones is a better skater than pulock, but he’s more of a 2nd pairing D and pulock is a legit #1. I think leading defenseman in WAR this season and having a Norris caliber impact the last 2 years is enough to call pulock elite.

I know what you’re talking about with pulock’s skating, when he first entered the league he had a bit of a choppy stride - but he’s worked at it and now I’d consider his skating above average and a true strength.

Thanks for the insight. Looking forward to a islander run this year, going to be a wild playoff
