I think they will take a dookie on Carey Prices goalie mask. But I dont see them going much further than that. There goal tending and compete level im not convinced on

Honestly if everyone performs up to their potential, including getting the same goaltending we got from soupy in his insane 11-0 run, I think they can win the cup or at least get to the conference finals.

Depends on the opponent we get in the first round
Winnipeg: Loss
Montreal: Close series, will come down to goaltending
Edmonton: Easy win

We might make the 2nd round but no further

They can win the Cup; and that's no bias. Will they? Probably not, but hockey is the most luck influenced major sport and any team that makes it has a fighting chance. Taking into account that they've been the best team in the division to this point and only have to get through their division to make the final four, the Cup is a reasonable goal. Unlikely, but certainly possible.

Good odds of winning the north, but unless the other divisions destroy eachother I dont think they get past that

As a habs fan they might get through the first. But montreal has history of upsetting high seeds so who knows. I do think that toronto will most likely get to the second. If they are playing edmonton they will win, if they play winnipeg they will lose. If they get out of the division they will definitely lose to the next opponent

If they don't make the conference finals I'd consider this season a failure.

When this team plays like they can, they are easily one of the best.

If they play with consistent effort and drive, they can win the cup.

If they're inconsistent and don't have the drive or effort, they'll be done after 2 for sure. Probably the first round.

we will probably win the north. but I'm not overly confident in us winning a round since we haven't before. I am cautiously optimistic that we will get through the first round at least though

They should get out of the North and after that it will depend on who they play and the injury status. Anyone who thinks Matthews and Marner can't win a series is just wanting the Leafs to lose. They are top 3 and 5 at their respective position. There are very few teams with the star power the Leafs have. Stars win in the playoffs and getting over the mental hump of winning a round should frighten anyone taking on the Leafs. They have a winning record against everyone in the North (I think apart from Vancouver due to their goalies stealing 4 games and counting.). They are the favorites and should win. So whoever they get between Vegas and Colorado will be a really interesting series.

Just to preface: I'm a Sens fan and hate the Leafs. That said, this roster does have the talent to win the Cup. The problem might be that they're not super experienced in the playoffs, but Foligno and Thornton as this season's latest additions brings in lots of this and they'll be able to provide some good veteran leadership. Defense was another question mark that Dubas has done well to fix, but goaltending is still gonna be a major issue going into the playoffs. I don't think that this is the Leafs' year, if I had to give a favourite I'd probably say Vegas, but I do think that the Cup will be in Toronto sooner rather than later unfortunately.

Now I need to go dry heave in the yard for a few hours.

TO has a winning record and has dominated the Jets from a advanced stats perspective. The only team that can beat TO in Canada is TO. I just don't see it happening this year. They all want it to badly. Thornton, Spezza and Simmonds have these guys wanting it like this is their only chance.

i think conference finals should be a realistic expectation, they'll live and die by their goaltending though

The only team that can beat Toronto is themselves.

When they’re playing at their best, they are easily one of the best in the league, hands down.

That being said, if they don’t play their best, they won’t go far. They’re either great or they suck.

There are multiple teams that can beat Toronto. Let’s stop pretending the Cup is theirs to lose.

Last time a team won the cup that was first in the league was the 2013 Blackhawks. Possibly even 1st in their conference too...The point is that anything can happen come playoffs. Hunger, grit, and heart matter the most.

but were not first lul, Vegas is, man those 2 bad skids hurt our top of the league moment (rn were 7th tied with Pittsburgh and NYI)

still though for me it all depends on goaltending and the big 4 showing up

Matthews can have 40 goals during the reg season but if he only scores 1 in 5 playoff games the ****s going on

That’s my exact point. It doesn’t matter where you finish in the regular season. Just get to the playoffs.

Matthews not scoring is ok just as long as he plays a 200 foot game. He did last years “play-in” but unfortunately most of the rest of the team did nothing.

Big goals in playoffs come from guys like Hyman, Spezza, Mikheyev, and now Foligno.

The same as any other Playoff team. They could win the Cup or get bounced in the first round.

Anything is possible, I do think they win the north, but I think COL and TBL are on a different level than everybody else with apologies to VGK.

They're on a different level until they run into a hot goaltender. NHL playoffs tend to be more random chance than a quantifiable outcome.
