Though I have high hopes for Sandin, it might be a stretch to think he powers the Leafs defence in the next few months. Maybe Reilly should be step and play like a competent NHL Dman, that would really help the Leafs.

I kind of think that this is going to work out for the Leafs by getting Sandin into a lot of meaningful games before the playoffs which is only going to develope him faster.......I really think Sandin is going to be a special hockey player for the Leafs.....I said the same thing arout Marner......Bogosian will be back for the playoffs and now the Leafs will have 7 battle tested defenceman and Hutton ready for the playoffs and to go to war with.......I also think Anderson is comming back for the playoffs so the Leafs will be in tremendous shape assuming no further injuries......and especially when Riley Nash returns. The most important thing now is to finish first in their division to ensure home ice and hopefully an easier first round match up as playoffs are a marathon....and the less games played the better.

I also think Keefe was somewhat outcoached last year in the playoffs by Torts........and he is going to be a better playoff coach this year and has a superior team with more size and experience.

I like sandin and like what I’ve seen (not a leafs fan so no bias) but I’m not sure he’s going to make as huge of an impact as most think. I think he could definitely be a rock on the bottom pairing but that’s it imo. Let’s tamper expectations for the kid

I know Sandin is going to make a huge impact on the Leafs......If you can play, you can play in the NHL.....and Sandin can play.......you are watching an extremely talented young hockey player in the early stages.....were talking about a future first pairing defenceman in the NHL.......He thinks the game on another level.....and has the potential to be a game changer.

Yes I agree he will be a top 2 guy and with most of what you said, but he’s not that yet. That’s my point. Let’s tamper expectations for the kid right now. He will be a good 3rd pairing d on this team this year. That should be expectations. Anything more is exceeding them.

Did you see him in action last night against the Jets?......I'm sorry but he is much better than you are giving him credit....played with first line power play and took Wheeler out of the game......Im not sure where you are from.....but I do not care how old or where he is from because the bottom line is he has the talent now and his stats show it everywhere he plays......

As I said, he’s good and he has a bright future. But he’s not a top pairing d-man yet. Tamper you expectations. I saw him against the jets and yeah, he was good, but not top pairing good. Simple as that.

Also, he didn’t take wheeler out, wheeler played the entire game lol. And that wasn’t as much a tough play from sandin as it was complete idiocy from wheeler. You never put yourself in that vulnerable spot. What was he trying to do? Steal the puck with his face?

We see this all the time but fans need to tamper expectations when it comes to young guys. Yes sandin is good and is likely a future top 2 guy, but he’s not there yet. Not to mention he has been heavily sheltered. Like HEAVILY. Just take a look at those same stats you talk about. Again, I’m not taking away from what he’s done or his potential, but to expect from him to be a huge difference maker right now is unfair. Yes, he will be a very good bottom pair guy right now, that’s realistic expectations.

I’m a Winnipeg fan and jets fans are doing the same thing with heinola. Same as sandin, I agree with the fans that both players should be playing in the nhl full time, but to expect either to jump into say a top 4 role and do great is unrealistic. I’m not saying that each player can’t do that, but it’s not healthy to expect them to. Fro example, jets fans think that playing heinola will magically fix their issues and th say that “if the jets have a top 4 d, why aren’t they playing him?” Yes it would fix the issue of a lack of puck moving ability on the jets back end, but it would decrease the overall effectiveness since the jets can’t afford to shelter anyone in d right now. That’s what I mean.
