Calgary is gunna be rebuilding within the next 2 years so yeah I'm sure they'll listen to offers including a top 3 pick and another early-mid 1st

Ironic that you are talking about another team rebuilding, even better that you think the answer is selling their 23 year old top 10 LW

Tkachuk is the last guy they’d move while entering a rebuild. Also this draft is weak and that player probably won’t be as good as Tkachuk. Draft picks are also not safe, it’s not as sure as a bonafide NHL player.

To be fair I would probably consider it for Beniers (but I'm also decently high on him) +++
But I also dont see a situation where Buffalo gets Tkachuk and doesnt loose Eichel in the process

The only way I can see Flames trading Tkachuk to Buffalo is if he is part of a package for Eichel

That’s painfully dumb. Just signed an older goalie for 6 years, a coach that won’t coach through a rebuild for 3 years and should clear up cap space in expansion. You can’t just say things and hope they’re true cause you said so.

Your comment isn't any more enlightening imo. Gaudreau and Monahan gonna both be gone in 2 years, leaving you with weak top 6. Giordano will retire and who will fill the leadership and defensive void? I think Calgary should be looking to rebuild, insofar as trading Gaudreau and Monahan before they walk and hopefully acquiring some talent up front

Giordano hopefully goes to Seattle, filled by Hanifin and Valimaki in the left side, simple fix. Tanev leads that group Hanifin grows into it, back end is fine.

There has been talk about signing Gaudreau long term cause his M-NTC clause kicks in this summer, Monahan isn’t even playing top six minutes right now so both those situations you’ve presented are inaccurate. Top six will still be Lindholm, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Backlund, Dube UFA or draft pieces

Sutter said he’s not going to coach a rebuild and Treliving will be working for a new contract, rebuilding doesn’t get you that. What we have established is what you think and what has been said around the Flames organization, I can’t see a reason to entertain the former in any way

If you want to make playoffs and get past the 1st round, you will need more than a coaching change and the signing of a couple UFAs. If you disagree that's fine, but the Flames are not nearly talented enough to win the Stanley Cup and that's the goal no? Trading their only playoff performer is a signal that Calgary may rebuild imo

Why? They haven't helped you win. They will both want to move on unless you overpay for them.

How do you know they want to move on. Both of them have said they love the city and would like to play in calagry thier wholes careers, based on your logic the oilers should trade mcdavid and draistaitl because they haven’t won anything and the avs should trade mackinnon cause they haven’t won anything

Its my opinion that they will likely move on because they have lacked success in Calgary. McDavid and Drai both have made it past the 1st round. Same with MacKinnon. Making the playoffs and getting eliminated in round 1 year after year is worse than not making the playoffs at all imo

Gaudreau and monahan have also made past the first round. And they made the playoffs last year, the flames have had more team success with gaudreau and monahan than the oilers have with mcdavid and draistaitl

In the past 5 seasons, the Flames missed the playoffs twice and were eliminated in the first round the other 3 years... 2014-2015 was the last time they made it past the 1st round. Oilers did it last in 2016-2017. Yes the Oilers have made the postseason with McDavid and Drai only once (the play in doesn't count) but they are going to make it this year (unlike Calgary) so there is little difference. Biggest difference is both Leon and Connor are franchise players, Gaudreau and Monahan are not. Time to move on from them in my opinion and build the team around Lindholm, Tkachuk, Dube, Pellitier, Valimaki, Andersson, Hanifin etc.

I think the flames will fire treliving, maybe try get a top six rw, lose gio to the expansion draft, and give sutter a training camp and full season to see what he can do. If the flames have another bad season then gaudreau and monahan will be gone, but the team has started to play really good under sutter so I think next year flames will return to the 2018-19 flames, trading monahan or gaudreau right now would be stupid because their at their lowest value and the gm knows that.
