That’s gonna be a NO from Buffalo

If we keep Eichel, then we’re trying to win NOW
And certainly not trading good young players for “futures”
It just doesn’t make sense for us at all

Reinhart MIGHT become available if we trade Eichel
But Jokiharju is young enough that we’d keep him- especially since he & Dahlin have gelled together as a pair

Buffalo has the 2 best pieces in that trade. Big time no.

Well, Reinhart for a top 15 pick is reasonable. Lind and some excess value from the pick for Jokiharju I would agree is a bit of a stretch.

Reinhart is one year away from being a UFA and has arbitration rights this offseason. They may be similar in age but Eichel and Reinhart are not in the same situation and will be dealt with separately.

There's this thing called a long term contract that they could use to keep reino.

And why would Reinhart want to sign a long-term deal with the Sabres? They are the laughing stock of the NHL and haven't been a competitive team for almost a decade.

I don't think its that black and white as you say it is. If it helps you sleep at night just consider this a reality where Eichel is traded.

It really is that black & white

IF Eichel is traded, & that’s a BIG “if”
Then i could still see us wanting more than just a 1st in a weak draft
We’d essentially just be hoping for that pick to turn into Sam,
so there’s not much incentive to make that deal

Reinhart may very well be named Captain if Eichel is traded

COL and BUF both say no, those are insanely bad offers for both. Why would COL trade Jost who is killing it as 3C young and cheap for a throw away trade. That’s just awful.

I don't think you're factoring in Reinhart's contract situation at all which significantly affects his value. Like I said before, he has arbitration rights and is one year out of UFA. if he wanted he could sign a one-year deal and then leave Buffalo for nothing. Maybe you recoup some value at the trade deadline but it won't be a top 15 pick. Also, I'm just ball-parking the value. Maybe a prospect like Rathbone or Lind is added but this is just the rough idea.

Well for one they risk losing him for nothing in expansion. Another reason being Colorado has a big offseason ahead with major signings like Landeskog and Makar and as a result of tight cap space he's traded.

You think jost is only worth a 3rd oh boy is that. Stinker of a trade proposal

Not even close in value for the avs to consider

He’s going to be protected, so this risk you speak of is make believe

and you talk about a tight cap space....yet you sign him for 1m....exactly the reason why the avs will keep him bc he will be a cheap option while brining value to the avs roster.
I mean you arent consistent with your logic

Or we could sign him to a long term deal

Even if it played out like you describe....
We are gonna want players to help us WIN NOW
And until Eichel is traded, u might as well accept that

Buffalo is last in the league, there is no winning now. Also what makes you think he's going to want to sign long-term? The odds are heavily stacked in the opposite direction.

Eichel signed long term
Skinner signed long term
You have NO CLUE what Sam wants to do

And even if you’re right that we aren’t winning now,
that doesn’t mean they aren’t gonna try

You aren’t getting Reinhart for futures
The end
Accept that & let it go

Reinhart's been dicked around in contract negotiations with Buffalo throughout his career, he had to sign a one-year deal last offseason. Skinner signed long term because Buffalo gave him a ridiculous contract that he wouldn't get anywhere else and he's from Toronto. Eichel meanwhile signed that deal out of his ELC. You have to take the context and timing of these contracts into considerations.

Reinhart has made ZERO statements about not wanting to be here
Your ASSUMPTIONS aren’t based on facts, but conjecture

FOR THE LAST TIME....
YOU AREN’T GETTING SAM FOR FUTURES
Accept it & move on

Just because he hasn't made any public statements doesn't mean he's not frustrated with his time in Buffalo. Yeah, this is a lot of speculation but that's how you project future transactions in the league. To say my accusations are way off is a little ridiculous man, just look at the team, the season they've had and the last ten years.

I really doubt they protect him and yeah his contract here is on the lighter side but the focal point of this post was on Reinhart.

Hes their Top PKer, solid defensively, since moved to 3C he has 10 point sin 16 games....yeah they wont protect him. Give your head a shake
The will 100% protect him bc avs are going to be tight against the cap and he brings insane value.

Not sure whats worse, the logic you have behind the trade, of the value you think it would take to give him

I don't know if you have a subscription to the athletic but in this article they talk about some comparable contracts in Mantha (5.7x 4), Josh Anderson (5.5x7) and Bjorkstrand (5.4 x 5). So I'd say 6x5 is reasonable.
