Still can't understand the Hamonic deal or lack of. Can't tell me a player would not want to be traded back to the area where he was born and is building a new house AND to a team which is in the playoffs. I think the only thing Chevy had to do was to extend the olive branch and it would of been done.
Savard, Zadorov, and other players did not have control of where they go.
I actually do understand the lack of a Hamonic deal, first in the offseason the Jets just weren't interested and then at the trade deadline Hamonic wasn't interested in getting traded cause if he gets a serious injury he'd have lost his last decent payday, it wasn't worth the risk to him as he's not the type of player that would've gotten a better payday based off his playoff performance. I fully expect Hamonic resigns with the Canucks.
Yes there's plenty of decent players that don't have trade protection, I mean I don't expect a #1 dman to be acquired or want the farm sold for a rental but trading the 2021 1st and a couple middling picks for Savard isn't "selling the future", one 1st round pick isn't the entire future of the organization.. Lol
Any one(or two) of Savard, Nemeth, Montour, Hutton, Fleury, Jakanpaa, Reilly would've been more interesting acquisitions then Benn and not one had trade protection except for Benn who's the worst of that list.. 😂
