We’re not in a position to be trading centers.

1. I don’t think the Rangers would be the most interested compared to other teams.

2. Hear me out here. Rielly plays like a winger. Why not try him on the wing? It can’t hurt. Either he works and you upgrade the forward core and sign someone for the blue line. Or it doesn’t work and you now know whether to trade him or not.

3. But thirdly, Rielly won’t go anywhere.

Hit the nail on the head, plus we can’t afford to move Chytil.

because he doesnt play like a winger. He plays like an offensive defender. Just because a defender isnt super great at defence and is a good rush and break out generator doesnt mean he'd be a good winger, it's a vastly different position in both your own zone and the offensive zone.

Why is everyone trading Rielly all of a sudden? He wants to be a Leaf and he's been part of the leadership core, so why would management want to trade him?

Also, if Rielly is signing an extension as part of a deal it comes at a much higher price than this.

If Rielly signs for 6.5M the Leafs would be fools to trade him. If he is looking north of 7.5M then maybe look at moving him but 6.5M is bargain in my opinion. Even if the term is too long.

Way to high price for Reilly. And ridiculous extension talk.

Rielly plays like a smooth skating puck moving defenceman. He is a good defenceman and people who say he plays like a winger are ridiculous
