Contract comparable team

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 25, 2021
Published: Apr. 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Using the contract comparables feature on CapFriendly, I will make a trade 1 for 1 for the most comparable contract for everyone on the roster. We will then see if it makes the team better or worse.

6 W's, 13 L's, 3 ties. This team is definitely not as good as the current Minnesota Wild. The D core in particular got quite a bit worse

Bjugstad is only a $2m rental for MN, Henrique is a $5.8m x 4. Parise makes 10x more and a has lot more term than Marleau. Not a good comparable for them.
Talbot > Greiss
Dvorak > Rask
Kunin = Greenway
Buch = Fiala (Fiala has been on a line by himself basically all season)
Tennyson > Hunt (but who really cares about pressbox players?)
Faulk > Spurgeon
Zucc > Nyquist

Personally I would definite disagree with you on Faulk and Spurgeon but the rest weren't that far off

Rask has actually been really solid this year and Dvorak a bit of a down year.

Compare the stats (and the eye test) Faulk has been better than Spurgeon this year. Not to mention the age difference between the 2 of them.

Rask is being carried by Kaprizov/Zucc. Rask is just the best of the bad options of him, Bjugstad, Bonino, and MarJo; that MN has.

Yeah this year they are pretty close but I mostly used a this and last season combined when making these, and Spurgeon absolutely destroys Faulk when it comes to impact last year.

Rask has been trash. He has actively hurt Kaprizov and Zuccarello's production this season. The only reason he is in the lineup right now is because we're on a game winning streak and pulling him to put (a recently healthy) Bjugstad back in the lineup would mean messing with multiple lines that are working well. He really should be in the pressbox. Injuries and literally not having any other options are the only 2 things that have kept him on the ice so much this year.
