As a Montreal fan, I see why he is doing this trade. We would get value for him as opposed to losing him for nothing in the Expansion Draft

Yeah, but if you do this deal you lose Allen and one of (Edmundson, Chiarot or Evans) for a 5th Instead of Allen for free.

What would be the compensation needed to make this make more sense then? I didn’t think with this logic, but it is sound

I’m not totally sure how far off a roster like this is if we get actual nhl goaltending and some solid nhl complimentary players. Since Granato has taken over, our younger players have shown actual new life

Adams will have to improved the lineup via trades the free agency class isn’t good.

I'm not a Montreal fan so I don't understand their players value, but something like the value of one of the players I named above. Like in a scenario they would like to trade someone like Chiarot after losing Allen in the expansion draft. So either way they lose them both for the same value. All in all it would cost the price of the second option that Seatle would pick after Allen for the expansion draft.

I definitely tried to focus more on trades with a couple signings. Dreidger looks legit so I gave him his money and then just a couple shake up signings. Gusev has looked decent since going to Florida

I think the highest I would give them would be giving them their third back from the Staal trade. Idk if that would be enough, goalie value is always odd

    DriedgerAllen provides about .920 goaltending

DahlinJokiDunn is one of *the* best young D trios

    Gusev and Smith are underrated

Yeah this team at least gets a fringe playoff spot

Lots of interesting potential here beyond that

They have some draft picks. Hopefully some dumb GM likes Ristolainen. I wouldn’t mind if they traded their first this year too.

Seattle is not taking Allen. There will be much better and younger goalies available or them to take.

My thought was the drop in production from him this year and you guys being so close to the cap. Was that not a fair thought?

I mean yes Smith has had reduced production but he is still one of Vegas' best defensive forwards able to play against other teams top lines. He is also still a legitimate scoring threat on the PK, PP and 5 on 5.

Eakin on the other hand is a below average center with no offensive upside. Eakin is a decent defensive option but not enough to offset the loss of Smith. If Buffalo wants a team to take on Eakin for a player like Smith they will need to give up a first at least and even then they probably say no.

If you look at smiths career he’s always hot and cold statistically. I think it’s more puck luck than anything, cause he generates chances.

He’s an assistant captain, I can see him taking significantly less to stay in Vegas when this contract is up.

Eakin is terrible, if it was just a 2nd straight up for smith you’d be getting closer. Zero wants for him to come back
