I'm pretty sure he's their captain and won't be traded for that reason and the NMC. he's been putting up a lot of points this year and they wouldnt sell low on him for that, even if they were trading him

It's for Khovanov

It's funny seeing Victor Rask -who was given unnecessarily long term and $ as a young RFA- in an AGM where JEE gets unnecessarily long term and $

Cautionary tale 😕

Hard to see JEE as too much more than a 4M$ player also so I don't think it'll be much of a bargain ever

I do think jee will get more than 4m. I would imagine his value being more in the 5m range owing to his defensive acumen. Playing as a positive against the toughest competition every night and starting to get his scoring touch down. He’ll get selke votes for sure this year and as he’ll get more offense as his line mates improve I would expect him to be more valuable in the following 5 years or so.

I may be misunderstanding you, but are you suggesting Ek is a similar player to Rask? If so you couldn't be more wrong. Ek drives play, can skate well, and is a shut down center. He doesn't score sexy goals just hard fought ones in front of the net. He doesn't have many assists because the coaching staff won't pair him with linemates who are goal scorers.
Rask in contrast is a defensive liability, a poor skater, but he is a sniper who can score the sexy goals.

I appreciate your confidence in my ability to understand next years rules. It’s really not a hard equation...Svech, Dougie, Goalie and a bunch of depth players. If the Canes can’t get that done with close to 30M in cap space, then I guess we are screwed. That doesn’t even count whomever Seattle takes to n the XD (Skjei, Bean, Gardiner, etc). Filling out a roster of depth players will not be a daunting challenge.

dont bother trying to explain this. The taxi squad will be gone next year and he thinks he can fly in AHLers around the country when there is an injury and only carry 20 players (and that somehow when a player is called up their salary doesnt count).

i wouldnt say its cap hell, but they will have to make sacrifices. 29.5 million in cap space and only 11 players signed.

That was a deadline magic and tax for being Pittsburg

So Carolina is just going to roll over and say that Jordan Staal has more value than Jeff Carter but we are going to take less of a return and retain 3mil for 2 seasons even though we have no need or reason to trade him?

2 mil per season. if you want, I might change ours 5th to SJS 5th that is higher, and thats it. They get a good prospect with a top 6 upside, a 3rd cause they need to do something with their cap for sure. I do understand and often change trades that peers say they are unfair. I do it every time, but in this case I do not understand you at all.

I did not see the trade was updated. It looks much more fair now.

I still do not think that Carolina has any incentive to make this trade though. The only way I see them needing to is if they do resign Hamilton and it is north of 9mil per and are unable to get Seattle to take Skjei or Gardiner
