Buffalo Fair Value

Created by: NYRBLUE
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 26, 2021
Published: Apr. 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Buffalo gets three young pieces that could be around and produce for a decade along with some decent draft capital. The D-prospect doesn’t have to be Lundkvist just any one of the young high end D-men in the NYR system. Also open to adding another pick, maybe a 2022 2nd if it’s not sweet enough. Seattle takes Howden/Gauthier/Blackwell. The 4th line can also have some tweaks done to it through UFA signings.

No thank you.

For starters, Buchnevich is older than Eichel. Hes not a young piece.

Also, you didn't put any of your top prospects. You are trading for a 24 year old 1C who avg a point per game for his career and who is locked up for 5 more years. ancillary pieces wont cut it.

Id say its pretty close but in value, but no the pieces that Buffalo wants, Sabres fans are looking for forward prospects with more upside so you have to start with Kappo or Lafrenière. At the minimum u have to put Kravtsov in there but u would have to add a lot if it was just him

All the Buffalo fans are gonna be here screaming where is Fox, Kakko or Laffy, but in the end, Buffalo isnt even gonna get this good a package. Cant wait to see the fall out when Eichel is moved for like 2 1sts, Strome, Zac Jones and Georgiev or something like that.

cant wait to see the fall out when eichel isn't moved and you all wasted 2 years of your life making trades for him.

I understand the idea that you have to give up to get and maybe you’re right that the pieces don’t necessarily fit perfectly but no team is going to give up any of their top 3 prospects to get back a 10mil AAV. The players they’d be giving up are younger and cheaper and could be potentially as good as what’s coming back. The name of the game is quality AND quantity. Buffalo has multiple holes obv they’re going to need to rebuild here. Having 3 players plus picks who’s combined talent level is higher than the one you’re giving up is the way you win the trade.

The problem is that there really is no reason for sabres to be tempted here. As much as you love trolling buffalo fans over eichel value its always amusing to see the complete lack of talent/value NYR fans are willing to trade. This line up has eichel as your top center, over Zib's. Which means you recognize him as elite? So stop counting out change to pay for him if you want him.
To help you make the choice think about how are you going to pay all these players over the next few years? Fox, Kappo, Zib's, lafreinere..how much do you think the cap is going up? Buch is worth 5.5 a year but paying him what he's worth makes him as good as a UFA so wheres the value? The rangers 1st this year is looking outside the top 10, next year will probably be higher without eichel with him could be 32 wheres the value? Offer something tempting or we'll just keep him. Offering players and pick we can get anywhere for the quality of player that comes around every few years is silly. So start with the 2021 1st, then add a piece that we would want an elite player the kind of kind most teams only have 2 of. Because your getting a guy most teams dont have (kappo/fox not a player you don't think you want anymore ie. Chytil/strome) then add another peice with good value an good rfa or player with a nice contract. Now you have a starting point. Glad i could help.

Lol. Imagine thinking that the Sabres and the Pegula's are a rational organization. Eichel wants out. Pegula's want his 10m per year salary with a 7.5m up front bonus payment looming off their books. Thats all that matters. The return will be way less than what it should be, because there are like 5 teams that could add him league wide in the next two seasons in a flat cap environment, and would be willing to pay his salary structure in full. Also lol at the clown above who said the Rangers don't have the pieces to get Eichel. The Rangers and the Kings are basically the only two teams in the league with the pieces to get Eichel and the interest and ability to add him. No one is breaking down the door here to get this guy.

I think it's a decent offer. If you switch Buch for Kaako, it should be fair for both sides

Sure...i forgot the owners that spend to the cap every year are worried about money and contracts don't matter if players whine. That's some solid inside info you got there.

Lol the Pegula's money is completely tied up in.... live sports and natural gas/fracking. Both SUPER SOLID INDUSTRIES THE LAST 18 months lol. Clowns on this site love to talk smack and have tunnel vision at the same time.

I wouldn't trade him to NY or Boston...I'd send him out west to LA, they have a ton of prospects and it wouldn't put a dent in there prospect pool

105 billion, that’s what the NFL’s TV deal is worth (just TV which is estimated at like 300-400M a year for them). Pegula’s own the Bills, I’m sure they’re sick in tired of having “no liquid assets” according to you.

Do I think they’re frugal for firing a good chunk of their FO? Yeah, and I also think that ROR’s bonus helped them pull the trigger but I’d never question if they’d be able to come up with the funds over liquidity. I’d also like to note, the firing I think is frugal because they weren’t replaced and not about their lackluster performance to date.

The Kings & NYR aren’t the only teams able to make a bid for Eichel. Money in & money out is a common theme with a stagnant cap for roughly 4 years. So this pure speculation on your part to create some fictitious leverage.

If we’re also talking about money, what impact do you think selling Eichel does to them? He’s the face of their franchise and sells tickets nor has he requested a trade.

Easy decline here by the Rangers. Said the same "no f'in way" to a similar trade a few days back- but with Schneider in place of Nils...and the package with Nils going is even worse for NYR...let's face it: nothing NYR fans propose is going to please BUFF fans...and no "reasonable ask" on their part is going to work for Ranger fans...As I did say in the other thread, though- is that the market will determine the value going both ways in this trade- if it even happens...but with that said, if the market determines this package going back is what it takes to land Eichel, then the Rangers better move on- and let BUFF pick from what other deals are out there.
