A lot of Leafs fans may be upset with Rielly but he has more value than that. What that value is gets harder to pin point but I guarantee if the Leafs looked into Rielly trades there would be offers far better than that one.

No money in the goalie position and resigning Hyman, Sandin is Riellys obvious replacement, so get a solid dman in return while shedding some cap.

I feel like Rielly would fetch a much larger return if he was made available via trade.

I don't disagree with that, I just think we would need a LD bottom pair guy so Sandin can jump up. Not necessarily in a Rielly deal but was just to show what type of player I would have signed with the space for that role

Noone seems to mention the term difference here I mean it's 1 year to likely 6+ it's very reasonable to say Dunn is more valuable given that factor ultimately

I don't believe it's that significant, Rielly as we no isn't the greatest defense oriented player and his production lately isn't much more than a player like Dunn

That’s fair. But then why not just use Dermott as that bottom pair guy?

Last year the leafs tried to get Parayko for Rielly, i'd assume Rielly's value has dropped a little but not that much

Exactly

Has never been able to drive play either

Dunn elite in that sense

I really like Dunn as a player and think he'd fit well with the Leafs style of play. However, I'm not sure Toronto would be the best spot for him. Stuff that got swept under the rug in a smaller market would probably resurface in Toronto.

May as well trade Matthews for any 3rd liner, Nylander for an AHL player.

Didn't St.L sign Krug last fall?

Wouldn't this mean Blues would have to sign both Parayko and Rielly to raises at the same time?

Blues would love to do this if the cap situation warranted it. But that would be quite a challenge to overcome at this point....
