avs decline, Graves is worth more than a 3rd...and no they wont trade him bc "they are afraid to lose him for nothing"

the problem i have in trading for tkachuk is he is an RFA with arb rights, a huge QO and no guarantee you keep him. for what he would cost to acquire, im not sure its worth it. youre gonna have to give him 10 million to keep him from UFA plus alot to the flames

WSH just paid either a 2nd or a 1st to dump 3M of cap hit next year, so they can give Ovechkin a small raise. Sending a 5.4M cap hit to WSH and taking back a 1.5M cap hit is going to cost the 1st overall pick.

eta: yes, Ristolainen is more valuable than Hathaway. No. Ristolainen is not more valuable than Hathaway plus Ovechkin. So, yes, 1st overall or no deal.

2nd edit: if the goal is to get a late 2nd round pick from WSH for Ristolainen, then the on-ice return is more likely Dillon and Hagelin. They're each slightly better at hockey than Hathaway, but they aren't cheaper.
