just another bad dman contract with Savard eh

also if Hertl will agree to an extension and you add someone like Robbins/Coe then maybe Buffalo will pick up the phone

Meier (worth a 1st + a 2nd)
+
Hertl (with extension) (worth two 1sts with the extension)
+
Leonard (a 2nd)
+
a likely top-5 (perhaps top-3) 2021 1st round pick
+
an additional unprotected 2022 1st round pick
+
Simek (work a mid-late round pick)
+
Robins/Coe (worth two 2nds)
=
5 1st round picks + 4 2nds + a 4th/5th for BUF to MAYBE just pick up the phone?!

Ok, wtv you say dawg... 🤦‍♂️

You seriously don't think any team could top Meier, who has been underwhelming and has a ridiculously high QO, a middle 6 at best in Leonard, a bottom pair dman and 2 firsts? NYR beats that, easy, with something like Chytil + Buch + Lunqvist + 2 firsts. CBJ could probably beat it too

He’s a player of no interest unless Sharks take Byron’s contract

That's fair to argue, but that's not what you said!

I think Meier + a really high 2021 1st + an unprotected 2022 1st + Leonard + Simek is better than the NYR offer you proposed given a number reasons, such as SJ's 2021 1st likely being at least top-5, but if a team like LAK is willing to part with a Byfield and a 1st or something, which may happen, then that beats my proposed SJ offer.

No one's taking Byron's contract except if MTL pays for compensation, and certainly not for Donato unless again there's compensation from MTL (two 2nds should do it if SJ embraces a rebuild).

Donato isn’t worth more than a 5th rounder
Even then, Habs should pass

You don't have the pieces for eichel.

That trade is extremely underwhelming

That package with those pieces going back is actually very fair value.

Nobody thought SJ had the pieces to acquire EK65. They did. And in fact, those pieces ended up being great for OTT. Keep in mind, that's TWO unprotected 1sts going back to BUF (at least one of which will be a high pick in 2021) in addition to very good pieces in Meier (worth a 1st + a 2nd) and Leonard (a 2nd). Three 1sts + two 2nds is fair value. Again, if LAK coughs up Byfield in their package that's a different story, but it's a fair offer to consider for BUF if they don't get Byfield or a highly touted prospect like him in an offer.
