I can't see Price waiving something that he earned.

Price isn't waiving his NMC. You can't say for certain Seattle wouldn't take him, even with his contract. If he's available, he's a big name goalie that they can market well and he's closer to home. Seattle would definitely consider taking him. & Montreal wouldn't even consider exposing him. They've believed in Price from day 1, and no matter how bad his numbers have been recently, without him this team is closer to a lottery team than a playoff team

Price can be replaced currently by basically any league minimum or elite Euro goalie so I don't really see the final argument as being useful at the end of the day

1. Price won't waive.
2. Pens don't do that.
3. Literally 0 reason for MTL to give Harris up.
4. Weber won't be on Taxi squad and that LD side is no better than it is right now.

Oleksiak won't sign your $2.925 million x 2 year offer. At 6'7" and 255lbs, there is going to be a GM out there who offers him a better deal than that.

You don't replace his presence. That was felt in the bubble last season when he stole the series against Pittsburgh. It's the dumbest idea ever to expose him to Seattle.

I am not sure why Boston would give up that much for Jordan Harris.

Pittsburgh Trading Rust for 2 2nds would be like Montreal trading Gallagher for 2 2nds but before this year when he still had 1 year left on his deal with an amazing Cap hit.

The 3rd to move Byron is probaly accurate.

The thought process was if Carey Price waives his NMC, you're able to protect Jake Allen who has been relatively solid this season barring the whole starter situation. In the flat cap world we're in currently, the chance that Seattle takes on a $10.5M annual cap hit for a declining Price is rather slim. On the off chance they do take Carey, it will free the previously aforementioned cap hit from the books, allowing Montreal to potentially make a splash in FA or retain the pending UFAs like Danault

There has been some possibly overblown speculation that Jordan Harris may not sign an ELC with the Habs, leaving him to become a UFA next offseason. He's allegedly shown interest with the Bruins who currently need another sustainable option at LHD. I wouldn't think he gets the Fox package but possibly something similar (say, a mid-round pick or two).

Bryan Rust has been one of the most underrated Penguins in recent history but I didn't know his exact market value so I used an estimate/placeholder price of two 2nds. I'll probably change that to a first rounder this season.

A 3rd and a 5th might be more in the range but it is tough to say, I was shocked that NYR gave up as much as they did for Fox when the reports were that he only wanted to play for them but with how good he has become it was absolutely worth it .

As for Rust you are right he is really good with an outstanding all around game and an amazing cap hit, a 1st would probably be required. The other problem I see is Pitt is way better this year than people expected and it is very doubltful that they decide there window is closing on next year. If they think that their window is still open next year then they have no reason to trade a good player on a great contract. If he hits free agency after next year there will be few teams that do not try and sign him.
