Seattle Kraken Expansion prediction with trades included

Created by: FullSend
Team: 2020-21 Seattle Kraken
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2021
Published: Apr. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don’t criticize the trades too hard, this is my first time trying this but I do believe Seattle’s team will look somewhat like this. When it’s all said and done, they’ll have just about 8 mill in cap space to spend with players sent down.
In the system: C.Foote, Benson, Salo, Bokk, Lizotte, philips
Potential players they draft in the first round: C Johnson, C Beniers, C/LW Eklund, LD Power, LD Hughes, G Wallstedt

FWIW, I think Appleton will work out well for Seattle.

I kinda wonder if Jets upgrade a first like the Vegas draft and seattle takes an old vet ufa, that they have no interest in signing. Possibly If Tb or somebody ships there late 20s 1st to get rid of some cap and the same request, sea flips that pick to wpg for wpgs earlier pick and doing the same. Picking a jet request.

If the buyout phase begins before the expansion draft then sure.. you can’t just buy a player out mid season, there’s a timeframe in the offseason, it usually starts right before NHL free agency, but if that’s not the case then it all rest on Johnson waiving and that’s that.

There is a buyout phase for the draft

Seriously you are trying way to hard to make it seem like the avs are in a bad spot

Reality is they aren’t even close to being in trouble when it comes to the draft

Tanev being protected is what I agree with now, look up in the comments I thought Gio had a nmc, Holl would make Hyman be unprotected okay sure, Brandon Tanev instead of McCann?? Sure

Hyman is a pending UFA, they just sign him after the selection since he likely wont want to play for any team other than Toronto. AFAIK Pittsburgh has been quite disappointed with Zucker and good odds they expose him.

Who did you have Florida protecting over Bennett? Wallmark or Acciari?

That’s fair with Zucker, I have either him or Tanev being unprotected.
Verhaege, Duclair both RFA’s but fit amazingly as close to point per game players on the roster and Vatrano. Vatrano is the only guy I’m skeptical about swapping Bennett with

I still think it’s a bet to leave Hyman unprotected idk why, it always speculation when you say players wanna stay with their clubs, they’re supposed to say that

Remember the Vegas pick swap worked because once Enstrom waived his NMC and was exposed, there wasn't much to pick from the available Jets roster (Ehlers, Connor, Morrissey, Laine all on their ELCs). So Vegas' choice was maybe 1-2 years of Enstrom or doing a 1st round pick swap plus a 3rd. This time Seattle can actually select a good long-term asset in Appleton so the protection price goes up to say a 1st (which the Jets shouldn't do).

This is what Vegas had to choose from (ouch):
          Marko Dano (F)
          Quinton Howden (F)
          Scott Kosmachuk (F)
          Tomas Kubalik (F)

Yeah Wennberg, for some reason I thought he was playing really well to give up on as a solid 3C, but yeah okay Wennberg or Driedger it is??

Seattle can take Graves and move on. Avs arent paying anything for no reason. EJ can either waive or be bought out, meaning Girard, Toews, and Makar are protected no matter what. SEA can take their pick from Graves, Donskoi, Compher, Francouz

All I needed was some evidence and a reasonable explanation so yeah I’ll go change it, thanks for being reasonable Avs fans

Also I do believe EJ also said he would waive as well

Wennberg is a pending UFA and got pushed to the 3rd line when they acquired Bennett so yeah he wont be protected

Alright thanks, I changed it to them selecting Acciari, I’m still skeptical about Holl though, that’s the only thing

          JC Lipon (F)
          Shawn Matthias (F)
          Ryan Olsen (F)
          Anthony Peluso (F)
          Chris Thorburn (F)
          Ben Chiarot (D)
          Toby Enstrom (D)
          Brenden Kichton (D)
          Julian Melchiori (D)
          Paul Postma (D)
          Brian Strait (D)
          Mark Stuart (D)
          Michael Hutchinson (G)
          Ondrej Pavelec (G)

I still don’t understand the love of enstrom, Suzuki was the draftpick the Jets gave up, that probably changes a few things going forward, if Jets go to the podium with that name.

I guess it must have been part of the unwritten arrangement he had when he waived his NMC.

So the trade ended up being (from a Jets perspective:
Suzuki & Vukojevic (just signed his ELC with NJD) for Enstrom & Vesalainen

Having Suzuki may have slowed down the laine deal or changed it a tad, kind of cool to look back at some of the franchise changers

You should see the other side of that trade tree... it involves Vegas, NJ, San Jose, Montreal, Philadelphia, LA and Columbus. Insane

          Do the Seattle Expansion draft
          So Hyman gone??

Hyman is a FA, risky play to take him in the draft, I think they Go after Dermott, Unsigned but an RFA, and he could blossom in to a top 4, He can't really do that right now in TO
