Seattle Kraken Expansion prediction with trades included

Created by: FullSend
Team: 2020-21 Seattle Kraken
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2021
Published: Apr. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don’t criticize the trades too hard, this is my first time trying this but I do believe Seattle’s team will look somewhat like this. When it’s all said and done, they’ll have just about 8 mill in cap space to spend with players sent down.
In the system: C.Foote, Benson, Salo, Bokk, Lizotte, philips
Potential players they draft in the first round: C Johnson, C Beniers, C/LW Eklund, LD Power, LD Hughes, G Wallstedt

Toews will be protected so that avs puck and description is just flat out wrong

They don’t have to give up a 1st and a prospect to protect or unload anyone

Hmm Okay it’s either Girard or Toews you’re giving up..?? Cause there’s no possible way to protect either unless you’re unprotecting Jost and one of Burakovsky or Kadri so good luck?? Remember you’re trading for Seattle to not take a crucial and valued defenseman or player that would slot nicely in the top 6 or top 4 for them. Also you really don’t think Compher is worth that 3.5 either right? at this point you get 3.5 cap space cleared to help with Makar’s resigning and a solidified top 4 for a b prospects and a very late 1st. You have to pray Johnson waives his NMC otherwise.

I don’t see the caps letting Vanecek go for nothing. They’ll trade him if they fear he’s getting selected.

idk if trading goalies will be easy, a team needs to protect only Vanacek if they trade for him or make sure there’s other more attractive players on their team to choose from or they lose him for nothing, whilst trading the lost assets to the capitals

They aren’t giving up either or exposing either

Erik Johnson has been hurt all season, and is hurt for the playoffs, his nmc is a non factor at this point with the length
of his injury. And there apparently has been conversations with EJ about his NMC, back in February that it’s believed he was willing to waive it

Yeah you’re right about Tanev for some reason the quick protect on the Exp simulator had Giordano protected and I’ve thought for the longest time he had a NMC, okay I’ll change that

I’m not seeing anywhere in the rules that a season ending injury negates an NMC, he literally hold the keys by waiving.
          Also this:

“Players with potential CAREER-ENDING injuries who have missed the previous 60+ consecutive games due to an injury, do not meet the criteria set forth by the league in respect to the minimum exposure requirements for players, and in certain cases these players may even be deemed as exempt from the Expansion Draft selection process.”

You have to pray that the NHL deems Johnson’s injury as potentially career ending if there’s somehow a way to actually allow his NMC to be a non factor. I feel like it would be apparent in the expansion draft rules as well and it’s nowhere to be seen but whatever

Klefbom is in the same exact spot without the NMC, we might have to protect him if the NHL decision is he shouldn’t be exempt

I mean most of those are common sense,
Tanev has been excellent all season
Toronto loves Holl passionately for some reason
McCann is 24 and pacing .6 ppg
Bennett has been excellent for Florida so far
Winnipeg just signed Lowry to a long term deal for dirt cheap
And Paul has had a very lowkey good season with the sens, plus they dont have a long list of forwards that can be exposed

How is Seattle also getting Foote? No F***ing chance they give Foote, Cajkovik, and a 1st as sweetener to take Johnson , that's delusional.

How is Seattle also getting Foote? No F***ing chance they give Foote, Cajkovik, and a 1st as sweetener to take Johnson , that's delusional.

They were trying to trade Johnson with a first last trade deadline with no takers, you think Seattle would take Johnson for free?? lol Cernak and Foote are avaliable to select too, if you want them to get taken then by all means.. if you want them to take Cernak, then it’s a 1st and Johnson you have to trade if you want to free up Johnson’s cap

I mean most of those are common sense,
Tanev has been excellent all season
Toronto loves Holl passionately for some reason
McCann is 24 and pacing .6 ppg
Bennett has been excellent for Florida so far
Winnipeg just signed Lowry to a long term deal for dirt cheap
And Paul has had a very lowkey good season with the sens, plus they dont have a long list of forwards that can be exposed

You still didn’t answer my question, although it may seems common sense in theory, realistically it’s impossible unless you make trades to protect these players

Tanev being protected is what I agree with now, look up in the comments I thought Gio had a nmc, Holl would make Hyman be unprotected okay sure, Brandon Tanev instead of McCann?? Sure

Kerfoot is a good choice to leave unprotected. The forward group for this draft is just okay at best and that's why Seattle takes him.

If you're the avs, would you rather have 1 of compher/graves beaucage and your 1st with a 2mill dollar buyout for Johnson... or johnson who is injured more than not anyway

Avs buyout johnson if he doesnt waive.. protect makar, girard, toews, still have timmins, byram, barron, and either Macdonald or graves...

No they aren't TB goes 4x4 Hedman Sergachev Cernak Foote no way Seattle rakes McD and if they do Thanks. So if a deal isn't reached they protect Kucherov, Stamkos Point can Cirelli and loose a Gourde or Palat or Killorn not optimal but oh well

If the buyout phase begins before the expansion draft then sure.. you can’t just buy a player out mid season, there’s a timeframe in the offseason, it usually starts right before NHL free agency, but if that’s not the case then it all rest on Johnson waiving and that’s that.

If you’ll willingly allow Gourde, Palat or Killorn to get selected then I’ll change it rn, but Johnson and 1st is likely what will happen on expansion draft day
