I fail to see why Detroit would do this. Evgeni Svechnikov I think will be good, given the right opportunity.

No not with Blashill as Coach, Sorry that guy needs to go ASAP. Sure hope Yzerman isn't extending him.

Sure it is. It’s reason as to why, NO. This trade does not work.

As a 24 year old I would say Svechnikov's value has definitely plummeted by now. Skjei is still a serviceable top 4 defenseman, just a little overpaid

Overpaid and in apparent decline in a flat cap world = no value.

Svechnikov's value shows for sure when he goes unclaimed on waivers.

He could have zero value and it would be more than skjei.

He's like 1M overpaid. Svechnikov might not even be an NHLer in year

Svech would have but he lost an entire year to injury and more the following year. Hes really getting his first full look right now. He looks ok but we badly need a ld and some more offense from the blue line. Still 3 years at 5+ million is alot, hes pretty bad in his own zone.

Then he’s not on the cap. More value than skjei.

Think I’ve been very clear that i think his contract is negative value.

Absolute no brainer for Detroit to do after the expansion draft. I think Detroit wants to protect Hronek, Stecher and one of Lindstrom/Cholowski. I could see Svech getting picked by Seattle. If not though its a smart move and helps Detroit at the LD position. Yes he is overpaid but I don't see Svech being able to compete for a spot with some of the prospects we have in the pipeline. Detroit really doesn't have to give out any big extensions in the next few years so fitting in 5M for 3 years shouldn't be a problem.

Svechnikov used to be a great talent until drafted by Detroit. Like many other players before him. frown
