I don't think it's a good idea to trade the franchise player for 2 guys whose value is the lowest it's ever been and a 1st in a weak draft, even if it does turn out to be 1st OVR.

to be fair I don't think Eichel's value is necessarily at it's peak either. I get what you mean but a 1C (even if he's gonna leave you can deal him at the deadline), one of the best goal scoring talents in the league, and a top 5 pick isn't horrible value for Eichel. I'm not sure other teams give up more value than this

I thought it would be clear by now that Sabres fans and the team have no interest in trading Jack Eichel. His value is such that they are certain not to get fair value in return. When you trade away your franchise center suddenly you need a new one, and this trade does not address that at all.

If Granato is retained as head coach for next season provided the rest of the team continues to play like they have since he took over, The Sabres should be competitive. Especially if Jack Eichel is completely healthy, his elite level play making and scoring abilities cannot be replaced. Jack shouldn’t want to leave coming off this injury riddled season, and next year is about proving that he has no reason to want to leave a team that is on the rise.

I agree, it's almost impossible for the Sabres to win a Jack Eichel trade. buuuuut, I get that Eichel would want to leave the Sabres before the Sabres want to get rid of Eichel.

The way Domi has been playing, it’ll probably cost a 1st to move him. CBJ should have a top 5 picks so if we’re using a % your trade is something like Eichel for Laine (40% of the 1st) and Domi (60% of the 1st). Not even close imo
So no, BUF says no. Add in Texier and another 1st and maybe Buffalo picks up. Just my opinion.

If Duboise is worth Laine and Roslovic then Eichel is worth Laine, Roslovic , 2021 1st and a prospect like Andrew Peeke- of course that just gets to the talent level - look at the trade on the human level if Laine is unhappy with the Bluejackets he's probably unhappy with the Sabres same thing with Eichel if he's sick of losing with Buffalo I doubt he will be fired up to go to the Bluejackets - personally I think trading Eichel is something you do only if you are going to sell the team and have it moved - there are a lot of top quality players in the upper end of the 2022-2023 draft - It's a totally Buffalo thing to be last for a draft where the best forward Beniers is described as being almost as good as Lundell who was picked 12th the draft before.

I’ve said it before, Eichel just isn’t worth the investment. The assets you’d give up to acquire him would likely just create more holes, at least for CBJ. LA, NJ, NYR, etc. might be a different story.

Domi also wouldn’t/shouldn’t cost anything to move. CBJ aren’t in a cap crunch, and he’s on an expiring deal.

And yeah, CBJ are better served giving Laine/ Domi another year under a different coach. If they’re going to trade them now, it’ll only be because someone is willing to overpay.
