Benning expansion blockbuster to try to save his job

Created by: bdb
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2021
Published: Apr. 28, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Benning remains, I assume he will take a big risk to try to get competitive. I'm not sure this is the right move for the Canucks but curious how others view the value. I imagine the 1st would need to be lottery protected. I could see Colorado making this move if they win the cup and deal with the cap issues that come with it as it solves their expansion draft issue while adding picks.

I'm sorry to say that you don't want Eakin. That trade is not fair at all, Vancouver gets fleeced.

Benning should get fired right after that deal. Just awful. Canucks give up a top 10, take on 2 more years of Johnson's contract as opposed to ridding themselves of bad contracts after next year.

Canucks need a cheap bottom 6 C a lot more than an overpaid, overrated bottom 6 winger.

I don't disagree but I do think if Benning remains it won't be with a mandate to draft and develop. Johnson while overpaid is still a pretty solid top 4 dman, I don't think this move helps the Canucks long term but is the type of move I expect him to make.

To keep Toews and get some high picks? Are Graves and Johnson that critical to their success?

Toews isnt at risk of being selected,

SO avs lose the 2 better players, they dont get any cap relief, actually would take on cap space if they can bring Tryamkin back over all for netting a 2nd round pick.

Yeah thats an easy decline. Awful trade framework from the avs side

Ok who doesn't. They can use Pettersson, Horvat and Miller at center. Also have Beagle at 4C
