Fine, Toronto will keep him. Or send him elsewhere. Don't think the trade needs to be Detroit.
I’m merely commenting on it from a Detroit perspective. I didn’t see any language about any team making the deal outside of Detroit.

I'm sure a team will take him for a late pick or equivalent prospect. He is a decent 3rd line centre who can PK, but yes as Saskleaf said... Doesn't have to be Detroit.
See comment above, depends on what you mean by decent 3rd line center. His replacement & spider charts aren’t flattering and he’s paced 34-35 pts the past two years which is decent, bad FO % in Toronto, CF took a hit, xGA 5v5 is higher than xGF 5v5.

I guess we'll see. He is a competitive guy. Does he want to go back to a team that has a pretty bleak future?
If wants to compete for a cup it won't be with CLB.
Heard he talked to Columbus FO before the trade and is well loved there. I don’t know the family situation but if Toronto can offer good money, maybe he uproots his family.

honestly at this point, I think Columbus should focus on its mini rebuild/tool and not bring back Foligno (unless he takes a massive discount)
Why spend 4-5mill when your team is probs not gonna make the playoffs next year. I say they should semi-tank for 1-2 more years and draft some good prospects to use. Columbus will have cap space to do some dmg next season and honestly their priorities should be getting that top 6 center to play with laine, getting a new coach, and working on new deals for Laine, Jones, Werenski, Elvis, and Korp (unless one of the G is moved)
We will have to see how the playoffs go for us as I have a feeling thats gonna influence whether he stays or goes back to Columbus or another team in FA.
Can sign him again for a couple years and flip him again if need be. He’s also a great leader/mentor for the youngsters. No guaranties that Jones signs an extension or Werenski doesn’t go UFA in 2023. By all accounts he’s a great leader and loved by their fans.

Why would he want to go back to Columbus? He wants to win a cup.
I love Hyman but 5M/season is too much with that term. I don't think his game will age well in the back half of that contract.
Reports came out he wanted to re-sign with Columbus and not everything is about chasing cups when you have family.
