I don’t see Foligno not going back to Columbus. I also don’t see Yzerman trading for Kerfoot as we have prospects that will lock down that 3C spot.

Fine, Toronto will keep him. Or send him elsewhere. Don't think the trade needs to be Detroit.

Detroit absolutly takes kerfoot for that. He can be flipped for more than that plus he can play wing too.

I'm sure a team will take him for a late pick or equivalent prospect. He is a decent 3rd line centre who can PK, but yes as Saskleaf said... Doesn't have to be Detroit.

You think? To me he hasn't proven he is worth a long term deal especially with his injury trouble and flat cap.
I think he takes a Binnington-like bridge with a team like Toronto to show he can be a starting goalie on an actual good team.

Yah imagine his stats on a good team. He would be number 1 in the league.

I guess we'll see. He is a competitive guy. Does he want to go back to a team that has a pretty bleak future?
If wants to compete for a cup it won't be with CLB.

I Think kerfoots moved for more then a 5th rounder, They will get assets back for him and a 4th/5th or at least a 3rd Kerfoots contracts got term and hes played well corsi wise with tavaras on Wing so he has Options and two types of capable play styles teams can look at, dubas understands this and will use it. Also very doubtful Ulmark would be less then 5 sooo I just dissagree on that not to mention with andersons rough season and him coming back healthy here with campbell playing very well in his absense I believe Freddy will get 3.5 or 4, From the leafs for at least 2 or years also I believe Hyman already has a deal made with dubas for 2-3m MAX, and 3-5 year term, Hymans dubas's guy and they will use all tools available to beat the seatle draft if they do have a deal made and wait till then they will get him cheaper and hes protected with out having to be from seatle look at Downtown sports on youtube guy explains in some very good detail. So yeaaa..... lmfao

I agree. If a 5th is all Toronto can get for Kerf, I doubt they deal him.

I mean maybe.. You don't know that.
You can always play with the lines. Robertson to 2nd line and Foligno could centre line #3.
You could move Mikheyev and Simmonds up and down too

Yeah you can play with the lines. Foligno could also play 3rd line and Robertson move up if he is playing well

If Dubas can get more for Kerfoot I'd be thrilled. Kerfoot is a good player, but his cap hit is what is harder to move.
There is no way Hyman signs for 3million though. Thats insane. He is a 5 million dollar player.

Yeah maybe, but he has never done it before.
He might get 5x5, but that is a big risk on a guy that has never played more than 37 games in a year.

Again, I think its more likely he gets a shorter term "prove it" deal around 4m x 2. We'll see.

It also just simply doesn't always work like that. As much as we would like to believe that. Sometimes guys can thrive on crap teams and not be able to step their game up on the bigger stage. Thats why I am suggesting a shorter term

honestly at this point, I think Columbus should focus on its mini rebuild/tool and not bring back Foligno (unless he takes a massive discount)

Why spend 4-5mill when your team is probs not gonna make the playoffs next year. I say they should semi-tank for 1-2 more years and draft some good prospects to use. Columbus will have cap space to do some dmg next season and honestly their priorities should be getting that top 6 center to play with laine, getting a new coach, and working on new deals for Laine, Jones, Werenski, Elvis, and Korp (unless one of the G is moved)

We will have to see how the playoffs go for us as I have a feeling thats gonna influence whether he stays or goes back to Columbus or another team in FA.

Why would he want to go back to Columbus? He wants to win a cup.

I love Hyman but 5M/season is too much with that term. I don't think his game will age well in the back half of that contract.

The only reason Ullmark walks is if he gets offered a bigger longer deal

How do you feel about Gallagher and Coyle contracts?
They are pretty much the comparables.
Gallagher at 6.5x6
Coyle at 5.25x6

I could see Hyman getting 5x5, but anything under 5mill and its gonna be 6 years for sure

I’m merely commenting on it from a Detroit perspective. I didn’t see any language about any team making the deal outside of Detroit.

See comment above, depends on what you mean by decent 3rd line center. His replacement & spider charts aren’t flattering and he’s paced 34-35 pts the past two years which is decent, bad FO % in Toronto, CF took a hit, xGA 5v5 is higher than xGF 5v5.

If wants to compete for a cup it won't be with CLB.

Heard he talked to Columbus FO before the trade and is well loved there. I don’t know the family situation but if Toronto can offer good money, maybe he uproots his family.

Can sign him again for a couple years and flip him again if need be. He’s also a great leader/mentor for the youngsters. No guaranties that Jones signs an extension or Werenski doesn’t go UFA in 2023. By all accounts he’s a great leader and loved by their fans.

Reports came out he wanted to re-sign with Columbus and not everything is about chasing cups when you have family.

5x5 is fair. I think Coyle is over paid and Gallagher 's contract is fair but won't age well.
