ARZ does not do this. Their leader and one of their solid top 4LD for an unproven prospect (not saying he won't be good but for now he hasn't proved anything yet) a bottom 6 play (2nd line potential) and a late 1st rounder won't be enough for OEL.

Ship has sailed on OEL my man. At full salary i don’t think the bruins would take him for free. Retain something and the bruins might consider giving up a little. There’s no first round pick coming. There’s no high ceiling prospect coming. If arizona wants to retain 25% and just do it for Kase, lets talk. OEL’s contract stinks.

Well, lets get one thing straight. They ABSOLUTELY do this. They’re so desperate to shed salary, and OEL has only allowed them to talk to two teams, and i don’t think either one of them has any interest him. Gotta stop thinking of OEL as an asset. He isn’t.

I love getting on this website and seeing people who have very obviously not watched the Coyotes since 2019 talk about what their players are worth. Let me break this down for you real quick:

Is OEL worth the $8+ million contract that he currently has? No he is not

Is OEL still a more than capable 2nd pairing LD that scores at a 50 point pace and brings toughness and leadership to any team he’s on? Yes he is.

If this was all it took to acquire him last offseason he would have been in black and gold so fast your head would spin. The reason there was “no interest” in him is because the coyotes were asking for a better package than 2 unproven and underperforming prospects and a first round pick in the 25-32 range. Not because neither Vancouver or Boston wanted him.

Oh, that’s cute.

I’ll try to break it down for you, REAL slow.

There is a salary cap in the NHL. Right now, it’s flat. If a player isn’t worth what he’s being paid, guess what that makes him? In most hockey circles, its called negative value. Theres never going to be a first round pick coming for that, unless you’re Carolina and you forgot that Brady skjei isn’t good anymore.

You think two unproven players and a first rounder is bad return for a guy that you admit is overpaid? You think that’s not enough when you admit that the 6th highest cap hit D man in the NHL is just a capable second pair guy?

You know what good teams don’t do? Happily pay a second pair guy more than all but five guys at his position. You know what good teams really don’t do? Give up major assets for the privilege of gathering the right.

This isn’t even factoring in that your team is so ridiculously broke that they’re desperate to shed salary wherever they can. Sold player + massive long term contract = negative value.

That last paragraph is the part where you really show that you don’t know what you’re talking about because the Coyotes have been a cap team for the last 3 years so they’re not afraid to spend with their new owner. And there’s over $25 mil coming off the books next season so no cap crunch. But it doesn’t matter you can keep your s**t prospects. Have fun being in the basement of the league in a couple years

You’re talking about the cap. I’m talking about actual dollars. Pandemic changed everything bud. It was very very well documented that arizona was desperate to shed salary. I think they asked some players to defer payment. They have unpaid bills with the arena manager. The team is $300M in debt. They lost $50 mill last year. So talking trash about being in the basement of the league wasn’t the craziest thing you said in that post. You actually told someone else that they don’t know what they’re talking about? Seriously?

Google: Arizona Coyotes money trouble

It will take you under 40 seconds to learn.

If they were so desperate to shed money why didn’t they? If it was that bad then they should have traded their expensive players for pennies on the dollar. 40 second google searches usually return the info you want to hear. Hate to break it to you “bud” but the whole league is losing fistfuls of money this year. It’s hilarious that you think it’s a problem unique to the coyotes.

And if you don’t think that harder times are on the horizon for the Bruins, you aren’t paying attention. They’re getting old and don’t have the prospects on the way to replace them. Basement is an exaggeration but don’t expect to be a cup contender after the next season or so

They desperately tried to trade OEL. Desperately. They weren’t able to.

I never made a comment about the bruins future. I just kind of thought it was funny that a fan of a team that’s spent a lot of time in the basement got defensive and lashed out about that. Bruins have been competitive since like 2007. It was just funny.

Anyway, OELs contract is trash, and has no value. Your franchise is broke, in a ton of a debt, and in real trouble. The rest of the world sees it, i guess if you don’t that’s probably for the best. You know the saying...
