How'd you come to that conclusion ? the only reason he's on LTIR and not IR is we need the cap space

The personal matter has nothing to do with whether or not he will be protected. I would say that there is little to no chance of Montreal leaving Drouin unprotected. If they wanted to move Drouin they would just trade to ensure they get assets back.

      I don't know.

Since the team is calling it a personal matter, one can only speculate what it might be.

Personal matter is never i want to leave and while the Montreal fanbase/media can be demanding he's still a Quebec born player

Could be anything... mental health - family dispute -he got dumped - covid in his family - wife is sick- father is sick - or maybe he needs a break from it all...

I just hope it gets better for him

Why would the Habs protect Drouin anyway? Leave him unprotected, he won't be taken. If selected that's 5.5m that can be spend better than Drouin.

That's crap. He's LTIR because he's unwell. Think a bit.

Look at the forwards available for Seattle. Not many are better than Jo.

Even if Habs didn't protect Drouin I don't think Seattle takes him. He doesn't have th attitude to play on a team that will give their all to prove what they got. Drouin doesn't give 100% to anything on the ice

I know that there is a human element to NHL hockey but unfortunately, there is a ruthless and calculating business element to NHL hockey as well.

It's why the Habs had Rejean Houle, the Leafs had Conn Smythe followed by Harold Ballard, the Red Wings had Jack Adams, the Hawks had Jimmy Norris followed by Bill Wirtz, etc.

GMs and owners who would have no compunction or compassion for hockey players and human beings like Drouin.

I don't know Marc Bergevin or the Molson Family personally but hopefully, they do have compassion for Drouin.

Also, nobody has any solid idea about what's going on with Drouin except those close to him.

Furthermore, there is no point in getting upset or sentimental about something that is of no consequence to our everyday lives.

We are random strangers on the internet.

To us, hockey players in the NHL who make more money than we will ever earn in our lifetimes are nothing more than a name and a set of numbers in a computer.

I wish more people saw the bigger picture like I am doing right now.

You asked me to think a bit.

      And so, I did.

      Did you?

There are going to lots of good players unprotected as teams are hoping their guy is selected for cap purposes. No way Drouin is worth his contract. Seattle isn't going to draft to the cap, as they will save space for UFA signings.
