LMAO, That's in noway a realistic return for Jack Eichel. Try one of Byfield/Turcotte for starters for Eichel.

To get Eichel, Byfield would have to be included. Plus, in your trade, you are sending a 1st next year, which could decrease the value of that pick for Buffalo. With Eichel, the Kings would definitely at least make the playoffs which makes that pick a mid 1st. Not a good enough return.

I'd argue that Vilardi has more value than Turcotte right now.

LA isn't going to trade Byfield for Eichel. Additionally, any Eichel trade would likely happen after the draft meaning both picks would be in 2022 at the earliest.

LA has 4 untouchable players right now, even for Eichel. Byfield, Bjornfot, Anderson, and Petersen aren't going anywhere. If Buffalo decides that there's not enough remaining to put together a package for Eichel, then LA won't get Eichel.

Id agree with you, Vilardi has more value right now than Turcotte. Buffalo is looking for a Roster player (Vilardi) a top prospect (bjornfot) mid level to high (Arthur) and a 1st and 2nd . The kings can definitely part ways with that when you have Kale and Anderson already on the left side

I know this isn't the point of the post but why would Seattle take AA? Kempe and Moore would be much better options.

I read an interesting article on The Hockey News website about a possible Eichel trade: essentially, the market is going to dictate what the Sabres would receive. While many Sabres fans would love to receive a Byfield, a Zegres, a Lafreniere, the likelyhood of the Ducks, Kings and Rangers being willing to deal any of those three is extremely slim. The Sabres are, unfortunately, in an extremely difficult position. I do not have a horse in this race, but I honestly think that, if Eichel does request a trade (honestly, he hasn't yet and there is no telling if he is even interested in being traded), he may not fetch as much as everyone seems to think he will.

I am by no means saying that he is not worth it: Eichel is an extremely talented player that every team would love to have. But everyone also has not taken into account a salary cap system that has been severely affected by Covid-19: with a flat cap, a deal for Eichel will likely have to involve the Sabres taking on money. A deal for a bunch of high level prospects or other $10 million dollar players is, realiistically, unlikely: there is just no way teams that have $10 million dollar players either a.) want to trade them, or b.) are being pressured by those very players to leave said team.

To suggest that this is a bad deal for the Sabres, or that they could get more, is essentially being ignorant to the many other variables at play when determininga a trade. The Kings, who are actually a suprisingly pretty good team this year. They do not have to make the trade, just as the Sabres do not have to trade Eichel.

It's not a fun position for the Sabres or their fans to be in, and I empathize with that. It hasn't been fun there in a while and I know that's awful. Better days are ahead: just by the laws of probability, they have to be. I am rooting for them.

I have Bjornfot penciled in as the next Captain of the Kings once Kopitar retires. They're very high on him and covet him for his leadership skills, not just for his hockey skills. They're not going to trade him.

If the Kings can rid themselves of Quick's contract I think this trade makes loads of sense. I won't argue value as I am not familiar with the players involved. My instinct is the same as others.. Byfield, but I don't know.

The Kings though, are in their last good years of Doughty and Kopitar and it'd be great to see them land a premier, young, No. 1 C! My only concern is that it is a lot of money (10M) and will cost a ton of futures to get him. This is a trade that the Kings would only make if they think they can challenge for a cup in the next two to three years with him. They have a bunch of great prospects and if I were them I'd try to swap out as many prospects for picks as I could for that trade.

I am generally a Canadian team fan but I like when California teams do well, more eyes and more money for the game!

Kempe and Moore are both going to be protected. As is AA actually, so none of those guys are options.

Most recent Mock draft on the The Athletic had LA going with the following protected list:

    Quoting: TheAthletic
    Los Angeles Kings (7-3-1)

Protected forwards: Anze Kopitar, Alex Iafallo, Adrian Kempe, Andreas Athanasiou, Trevor Moore, Carl Grundstrom, Blake Lizotte.
Protected defencemen: Drew Doughty, Sean Walker, Matt Roy.
    Protected goalie: Cal Petersen.

The only change I'd make is to protect Lias Andersson over Blake Lizotte.

Notable forward exposures: Brown, Wagner, Lizotte, Lemieux
Notable defensive exposures: Clague, Strand, Maatta, MacDermid
    Notable goaltender exposure: Quick

FWIW, they have Seattle taking Clague (as do I).

Much as I'd hate to lose F*g*m*, this is a fair trade for Eichel I could accept. Very well done.

(Since you might be lacking depth down the center once you trade Eichel away, I might substitute Anderson-Dolan or Blake Lizotte plus Kale Clague for Sam Fam.)

If I’m BUF I don’t accept a trade from LA without Byfield, just like I wouldn’t accept a NYR trade without Lafrienere. Eichel is a 24yr old elite C that has 5 yrs left on his deal. BUF has some great building pieces it’s a shame they can’t get it together.

Turcotte, Cozens, Beniers - just need to sign a vet while Beniers develops, unless by some miracle Reinhart is still there

I would do this. I was going to suggest a short term cap dump coming our way- because it is a 10 million dollar contract going out, but LA is so top heavy, everbody either makes 10 million or less than 3. So nevermind.
