Would be a smart deal for NJ for Dunn in my opinion. Many different opinions on Dunn and his trade value but for me, a late 1st round pick in this draft is not nearly as important as a young, mobile, offensive defenseman. Especially for a team like NJ with a ton of prospects and young talent already in the system (and another lotto pick on the way). Blues are gonna lose a Dunn trade just like Isles lost the Toews trade, Caps lost the Burakovsky trade, Ducks lost the Palmieri trade way back, the list goes on... I hope the Blues keep him, protect him, extend him, and play him with Parayko in the top four instead of babying him.

Trade makes no sense for the Habs they woudn't be able to protect Butcher for the expansion draft so they will probably lose him to Seattle.

If the 3rd is removed. I mean Chiarot is a legit NHLer while Butcher was scratch for a good majority of the season. He's good at moving the puck but.... Yeahhh.... He needs to work is defensive side of the game

Butcher was scratched because Devils needed defensive defensemen more than offensive defensemen. Not because he's not an NHL dman. After the TDL, Butcher has played very solid. He's getting better defensively imo.

So much injury shuffling lately. He's been on the right side paired with Scandella mostly, I guess technically they're the 2nd pair. For 2 the two seasons prior he basically was strapped to Bortuzzo on 3rd pair unless they needed a goal and theyd bump him up to get him out there with Pietrangelo.

Id probably take that if it was the best offer for Dunn. There are some solid picks to be had late in the first of this draft.

I guess he needs a bigger role. Devils could use Dunn as a top 4 guy next year. This trade might work for both sides.

That still means that he had 3 other dman in front of him... Devils don't have a super good defense too...

I was talking to another Habs fan and they said they would want Butcher if the trade away Chariot. Devils get a defensive defensemen and the Habs get a offensive dman that would take Chariots spot.

I agree Devils don't have a good defense, that's why Butcher who was offensive, wasn't playing. They played Kulikov over him who was defensive
