Description

going 7-3-1 protecting sid, geno, jake, rust, kapanen, mccann, bleuger, letang, dumo, MP, Jarry. Seattle takes Zucker and helps our cap or takes ZAR and hurts our bottom 6 depth. either way i think we are losing a forward. only other possible option would be if Seattle takes Desmith but i find that quite unlikely.

Wouldnt Mind this swap for Pittsburgh. I think Buffalo likely loses a defenseman in expansion and there current core is not great. Thompson is streaky but I like his size and skill.

It would have to depend on if the Sabres can re-sign McCabe. I wouldn’t mind this trade though Thompson isn’t really good at all.

If Buffalo can't resign McCabe then yes this trade would be a solid idea. If McCabe is back then they have Dahlin, McCabe, Samuelsson and Bryson. No space for another LHD.

Dahlin, Joki, McCabe (will resign), Risto, Bryson, Borgen, Samuelsson, Johnson, Laaksonen.... "not great"

I fail to see how that isn't a top 10 D core + prospect pool

Thompson has finally started pulling his head out of his ass. I am hoping the Sabres aren’t looking to move him for a project defenseman with a big contract. The Sabres have no use for him, they could use another right wing, not unloading one of the only right hand shots on the team.

Buffalo would have to add, but wouldn’t mind adding Thompson for some size in the bottom 6 after expansion.

the only player I want from BUF is Ristolainen.
But he's a rental so we'd have to have an honest conversation about costs.
But I think they could use his size and physicality on the blueline.
I like the way he plays and I think with more help around him you'd get better results.
