It is weird that Buffalo fans seem to think there's going to be a bidding war for Eichel. You could count the teams able to add 10 mil to their payroll right now on one hand, and then you can chop off a few fingers for those who would be willing to do it for a guy with Eichel's injury history and attitude issues. That's before we account for Adams as a GM....

Adams has done a good job with trades. His hands were tied with the Boston trade, his hands were tied with Halls NMC.

That offer is crap for Eichel. I will say that there is not going to be a bidding war with more than half the league bidding simply cause of his $10 mil cap hit and teams having the pieces Buffalo would be looking for, but this offer is beyond laughable. Believe me I don’t like the idea of giving up a boatload for him, but this isn’t even reasonable.

In the off season plenty of teams can make room for eichel.

I mean we just went through a season where the most net cap any team took on for anyone signed beyond this season was 2.5 mil...

I'll believe it when I see it. Clearing more than a few mil in cap is not easy right now, and clearing more than that is really hard...and most teams need to clear more than that.

Yes, but in the off season, maybe it just means that you send a little salary over, and then don’t extend someone. I’m going to use the bruins as an example, not because i think there’s any chance they trade for eichel, but just because i know their cap situation well. They’ll probably give krejci 5 mill. Send all the assets over, add John Moore to balance salaries a bit, and don’t re-sign krejci. There’s 7.75 right there. How about the blues. Don’t extend schwartz or Hoffman, and there’s 9. So on and so forth.

I think we all agree that a player of eichel’s caliber being dealt with so much term left is a rarity, and teams will be willing to go to the extra mile to acquire such a player. Then factor in that a team is joining the league with zero cap obligations, and a desire for futures, and all of a sudden, you have your market.

If I had a dollar for every time my profile's biography checked out, I'd be making more money than Jack Eichel at this point
