OEL is terrible

Created by: OlegP

Description
Thank God Canucks didn't trade for this mess of a player.

His analytics are terrible and he's vastly overpaid

Just gave the puck away in consecutive shifts for consecutive penalties essentially ending the Yotes season

All the folks that thought he wasn't a cap dump hahahahaha

Why is this post yelling about how analytics are terrible? Analytics have been screaming that OEL has been terrible for years now.

Ah, darn those pesky number-crunchers, they can't get away with being correct forever!

He was miserably awful last night for sure. Not a huge analytics guy myself but there have been times this year where he doesn’t even pass the eye test defensively. Making lazy stick mistakes and taking unnecessary penalties. The offense looked good to start the year at least but has dried up lately. It’s blatantly obvious to me that he (and the rest of the team) needs a new voice in the locker room.

To sum it up, saying he’s a cap dump is extreme. There’s still potential there. But this season made it obvious that his problems extend beyond injuries and mental health crises from years past.

I said his analytics are terrible! Nowhere is it said they changed. Reading comprehension is lost here instead of focusing on tone maybe focus on meaning

He's untradeable, that makes him a cap dump. This was argued all last Summer. Many ppl were wrong

He’s untradeable because he’s limited the amount of teams that we would accept a trade to. If he opened it up he wouldn’t be untradeable. He’s still only 29.

I posted this in March

"Remember when Oliver Ekman-Larsson was almost somehow traded this offseason for real assets and not a cap-dump as one of the league’s most toxic contracts? By GSVA, he’s now considered to be only barely above replacement level at 0.2 wins of value and that has a lot to do with his most recent stretch of games where he’s essentially had a stay-at-home order in his own end.
Prior to Wednesday night’s game against the Avalanche where he shockingly broke the streak, the Coyotes were out-chanced in seven straight games with Ekman-Larsson on the ice. Badly too. In that time he has a 29 percent expected goals rate and no, he’s not being tasked with tough minutes either. Among Coyotes defensemen he’s actually last in forward competition quality faced. Ekman-Larsson hasn’t been the player his reputation has suggested he’s been for a while now, but this is a new low for him. For the year he’s cost the Coyotes 0.32 wins – sandwiched between Jack Johnson and Marc Staal, just shy of the league’s bottom 30. That’s not good company."

But please continue to move the goal posts. I had people telling me he was an all star in the offseason that demanded multiple 1st round picks.
The narrative has clearly changed but NOT my correct opinion of him from the Summer
