I get that he's only 21, but has Bowers done anything to show that he's not just a mid-tiered prospect?

I think Columbus goes for quality over quantity *if* they deal Jones.

I will say it every time someone gives a goalie a huge extension for a lot of years and money- do not pay for saves.

There's like four goalies who are actually significantly better than everyone else that deserve a lot of money, and everyone else is about the same. Grubauer is good, but he's playing behind one of the best defensive teams in the league. You can throw anyone back there and they'll be decently good. Devan Dubnyk and Jonas Johansson are probably not NHL caliber goalies anymore and Colorado is getting wins with them. If Colorado can't reach an agreement with Grubauer, they just need to do like they did when they traded for Grubauer in the first place- find someone that's probably decent and roll with them. It's much better for your cap anyway.

Also Colorado is one of the most analytically minded teams in the league and the computer boys love to say how overrated Seth Jones is (and based on his year this year, they were probably right). No way Colorado trades for him.

100% agree. Goaltending is so volatile its usually not worth paying very much for. Obviously there are exceptions like you said for Vasilevskiy, Hellebuyck, etc. But for the most part large goalie contracts end up being a burden like Price, Bobrovsky, Quick, Jones, Murray, etc

That being said I would still pay Grubauer around 5-6M AAV cause he's proven to be very good with this team, but 8M is way too much

I'm thinking grubes get somewhee between the demko deal and the markstrom deal. I would be all for seth jones if that was all it takes, but it will take more than that plus we will need some space to resign him.

No #1C, no Jones. Your Karlsson comparisons are not relevant because we're not selling him - not unless we get definite confirmation that he wants out, and that does not exist.
